Stone Cold Queen by Lucy Smoke

Sick Boys, Book 2

Synopsis: Rule No. 2: Show no fear.

They’re vile and twisted.

The only thing more fucked up than the Sick Boys is me, and I’m ready to show them.

The Sick Boys are hiding something from me. They want to pretend like I didn’t kill my rapist and they didn’t help. But we’re not ordinary college students, that much has become clear to me, and I’m growing tired of all of the lies and secrets.

Their masks are cracking and finally, I’m starting to see the grotesque reality underneath. It’s far darker than I ever expected, and it’s not enough. They know everything about me, so now it’s my turn. I fear nothing. Not them. Not the man that I killed or the people who set me up.

Fear is for the weak and I, Avalon Manning, am anything but.

Review: I loved the first volume and I was only waiting for one thing: to plunge into this second volume to discover what happens next. I can tell you that I had a great time and that I immediately grabbed the third volume to finally discover all the secrets of our dear Avalon Manning.

Avalon killed her attacker, but that doesn’t change what happened. She’s still strong, but she’ll soon discover that she’s never been more alone in her life. Everyone is hiding the truth from her, but she’ll do anything to find out what it is. The Sick Boys are, of course, always there, watching over her, or rather trying to bend her to do their bidding, and they’ll have to learn that she’ll never give in. Dean discovers feelings in himself that he did not know and does not know how to handle them very well. He is very authoritarian, but he knows only that. It is difficult for him to accept that Avalon will never do what he wants when he wants it.

Some secrets are revealed, but very few. Some characters change sides, but I have to say I’m looking forward to finally finding out all the outcomes in the final volume.

Each novel kept me on the edge of my seat until the end, impossible to put it down until I finished it and I can’t wait to find out what the author has in store for us. The next volume concludes the story of Avalon and Dean, but more will follow about the other two Sick Boys. This is a dark romance, with themes that are not easy, but are beautifully handled! I recommend it!

  1. I’m glad that each novel kept you on the edge of your seat! I love when that happens, and dark romances can be such powerful reads, that is why I truly enjoy this genre 😉
