Tombs of Endearment by Casey Daniels

Pepper Martin, Book 3

Synopsis: Cemetery tour guide Pepper Martin never imagined she’d get to meet rock legend Damon Curtis, the bad boy poet who made millions of teenage girls scream. After all, he kicked the bucket years before she was born. But thanks to her newfound ability to chat up the dead, Pepper’s got a front row seat perfect for swooning over the still-sexy Damon’s latest lyrics. He’s convinced that his former bandmate Vinnie Pallucci murdered him back in ‘71, and he’s promised Pepper she won’t get any rest or peace until she helps him prove it.

But when Pepper goes behind the music, she finds Vinnie with a knife in his heart and the rest of the band members running for their lives. And if Pepper doesn’t snare the killer soon, Damon’s next hit from the great beyond might be her swan song.

Review: As always, I was eager to discover this third novel of our dear Pepper Martin. I always have a great time with each story and once again Casey Daniels took me away with this new novel and I’m delighted!

It’s time for Damon Curtis, a famous singer, to come on the scene and to ask our heroine for help. He can not leave and it looks like someone has a hold on him, preventing him from moving forward. While she did not want to interfere in this case, Pepper will put her feet right in it!

I loved following this survey. It was interesting to see what had happened in this band so long ago and still relevant today. I was touched by the relationship between Damon and Pepper. It’s something different from what we’ve seen so far and we understand perfectly what the young woman may feel. In addition to that, Pepper will eventually face Dan and an intriguing proposition. In fact, I am curious to learn more about it. And then there is Quinn of course. How to resist him? And I was also surprised to meet Pepper’s ex-fiancé and I must say I was proud of her.

It was like I said, once again, a very nice novel and I’m curious to read more! These novels are like little treats that are hard to stop once you start them! I always want more.

Pepper Martin, Tome 3

How to Dance an Undead Waltz by Hailey Edwards

The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy, Book 4

Synopsis: Keep a spot open on your dance card. This is one ball you don’t want to miss.

Grier is nursing a broken heart after Boaz announced his engagement to another woman, but life goes on. Or it would if vampire assassins would stop taking pot shots at her every time she leaves Woolworth House. Seriously, who sends archers to deliver murdergrams these days?

To protect herself, Grier must pull out all the stops, even if it means revealing her darkest secret. All eyes are on her, and — for the first time — she begins to understand why Linus wears so many masks. But the target isn’t Grier, and when the archers single him out, it feels like one of their arrows might have struck what remains of her heart.

Review: I love this series so much and I bought Volume 4 just after finishing the previous one, and I got into it right away! Yes, because I was really looking forward to learning more! I’m weak, by the way, because I’ve already ordered Volume 5! And I’m really curious to read it!

Grier had to face the changes in her life and especially the absence of Amelie and Boaz. It’s not easy, far from it, but fortunately for her, Linus is there to assist and help her. It’s so easy to get attached to this character, and even if it’s a little complicated to trust him at 100%, I’ve completely melted away! Yes! Completely. Ah Linus! He is so careful with Grier, he doesn’t try to keep her trapped in a golden cage, and above all he will do anything to protect her! It’s really touching and cute to see them together.

I really had a great time with this novel! We’re learning more about Grier and Linus. We also learn more about the cellar of her house. Boaz also appears a few times, although these encounters are not easy. We meet the master!!!!!!! But of course, there is also the problem with the Le Marchand, but also with the vampire assassins who seem ready to do anything to kill Grier! So she’s going to have to use her powers to the maximum to save herself and her loved ones!

So you understand that there is a lot going on in this book and, as I said, I look forward to the next one!

How to Dance an Undead Waltz de Hailey Edwards (VO)

The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy, Tome 4

Stepbrother Dearest – Penelope Ward

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

Interference by Harlow Cole

St. Michaels Duet, Book 1

Synopsis: Brayden:
I’m a goddamn prodigy. It’s true. Ask anyone.
I threw my first curveball the day I was born.

The whole damn town is waiting on me.
To live up to my father’s famous name. To reach for the stars.

All I want to reach for is her.

But Ashley is the sweet addiction I can’t afford. She’s my best friend’s sister. Hell, she’s practically my little sister. For years, I’ve protected her from guys that want one thing. What happens now that I’ve turned into one of them? Who’s gonna shield her from the way I was made, from my little white lies and from what I’m about to become?

My game plan sounds simple: Pitch my way into the Major League draft and stay out of Ashley Foster’s pants. That first part may be statistically difficult.

The second feels damn near impossible.

Ashley:
From the moment we met, I knew he was trouble.
The kind my mother sent me to find.
The type that ruins you for any other brand.

When we were young kids, I didn’t know what to call the frogs and butterflies that danced in my belly whenever Brayden came near. Now I know they have a name.

Those three little words that could heal or destroy him.

Before Brayden, my life was normal. And then it wasn’t. It couldn’t be. Ever again. How was I to know stealing his seat would change all our lives?

Anger and forgiveness share two halves of the same coin.
Our story might make you choose sides.

Review: I was curious to discover this novel and I must admit that the sports aspect immediately attracted me. But I I was surprised, because I didn’t expect to have something “YA” and I thought the characters would be adults. It’s not really a problem, but it made me feel weird because in the first chapter, they’re adult and everything else goes back to the past.

After this surprise, I must say that I had a good time. Ashley has always known Brayden, and she knew him even before he became very close friends with her brother Nathan. He always protected her and she always saw in him something more. Yet, he doesn’t look at her like that, even older and it’s quite difficult for her. Brayden doesn’t have an easy life and Ashley is the most important person in his life. And as he grows up, he realizes that he has very strong feelings for her. But he doesn’t want to face them, even if it means hurting her at the same time.

It was a touching novel, but also very sad. Ashley and Brayden love each other but they are constantly tearing each other apart. I was curious to see them evolve and especially to discover what would become of them. The author allows us to follow them both one after the other and see what they really think about what is happening. When I started the novel, I thought it was a standalone, but I saw that it was finally a duology… Arghhhhhh I want the sequel now! I want to know and discover what happened in everyone’s lives and especially how things will change now!
