Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I don’t think so or for now it’s not the case. Sometimes I’m sure I’ll like the book because I really enjoy the synopsis and the cover but it’s not about the bad review. It’s true there is a book I was curious to read because everyone doesn’t like it, but at the end I didn’t try it, because I have a lot of great books to read before. Maybe one day.

  1. I definitely understand about having too many great books to read first before snagging a book that others thought was terrible! I tend to buy the books with bad reviews when I’m getting burned out on books in my queue and need something “different”.

Thanks for stopping by! I’m an old follower on GFC and Twitter, but I did follow you on NB 🙂

  2. I agree with your answers too! Sometimes pretty cover and intriguing summary will make me buy a book even though the reviews on the book are not always positive. Thanks for stopping by my FF!

  3. If it’s a bad review from a friend, then I wouldn’t buy the book. If it’s a bad review from a random person, or if it’s filled with personal attacks, then I still want to read the book.

Thanks for stopping by! Old follower!

  4. Oooh, french reviews! I planned to learn French.. I think I should follow you and hope to understand three of threehundred words. XD XD XD I’m so bad with languages, even my own native language (German) seems incredibly hard sometimes LOL

I think.. Hmm.. I read books because of negative reviews. Either because I wantto know what the fuss is all about or because the negative reviews are really good and state why the reviewer didn#t enjoy the novel, which might be stuff that I generally enjoy (dark settings etc.) :3

  5. EXACTLY! Sometimes I read a book in spite of a bad review, but never because of one — although I have to admit that I’ve avoided a ton of books because of bad reviews x) But negativity is never the best selling point LOL! Still, if there are a bunch of bad reviews for a book and one really, really good one, I might want to read that book just to see what it’s about, like you! 🙂

That’s the perfect answer for this question, I think! I hope you have an amazing weekend, Mel! 🙂 <3

  6. I’m so late responding to this – sorry, crazy week!

What you said is spot on. I get the book because the cover and synopsis draw me in, not because I want to see whether it merited that particular bad review.
