Tall Tales and Wedding Veils by Jane Graves

Playboys,  Book 2

Synopsis: Accountant Heather Montgomery is a planner. So never in her wildest dreams did she think she’d run into sexy charmer Tony McCaffrey in Vegas, play lady luck, and celebrate his jackpot with a champagne-soaked night. And she certainly never expected to wake up the next morning married! How could this good girl pick a man whose fridge is empty and whose apartment is a disaster zone, yet still drives her so crazy with lust she can’t see straight?

Quickly hitched and happily ditched, Tony can’t wait to get back to his playboy ways. But when Heather’s family is thrilled that their no-nonsense daughter is finally in love, he proposes a plan: stay married for a month to repay his good luck charm, even though she sterilizes his toothbrush and forbids anything between the sheets. But Heather is more than he bargained for–a sharp-witted, passionate woman who just might turn his near miss into wedded bliss!

Review: I began this book without really knowing what to expect about it and I admit that I really had a good time with the story and the characters. It is a pretty contemporary romance that we find here, a volume we can quickly read and it is fun to follow it all.

Heather is an accounting, bachelor (something that everyone does not fail to point out) while she doesn’t have really any luck with relationships. Moreover, she must now wrestle the upcoming wedding of her cousin, she does not even like in fact and who does not hesitate to remind her that she is so much better than her in her life. Heather is an amazing person but she isn’t confident, she does not like her curly hair, does not have the model size and is finally rather banal. This is why it is quite easy to identify with her, to understand her in her decisions. Yes, Heather is a heroine to which we can really easily relate.

Yet, here her life is completely changing while after a trip to Las Vegas for the bachelor party girls of her cousin, and especially after too much drinking, Heather finds herself married to the man on whom she fantasies all the time. Yet she perfectly knows that he is not for her, he only goes out with models, changing girls every week without missing telling anyone who will listen to him about them. No, he is not for her, but when they decide to play this charade for a month, until the Heather’s family forget a bit about her and after the Regina’s marriage passed, something may well appear between them.

It was a very touching story, we understand the doubts of our heroine in relation to all that is happening. She is easily attached to Tony and she supports him as a wife, something which bothers him a little bit in fact. But while she starts to really like him, Tony struggles to manage everything that is happening and we would like him to understand what is best for him. After that, it is true that he is the perfect bad boys that can only make us crack. And we follow his change of attitude in the chapters.

It was a nice story as I said. It is very easy to get into the novel and to leave it once it’s over, because yes, I finished it in one sitting! I am also curious about the others in the series now. Besides rest assured that there is no problem to start with this book as I did. A great discovery for me!

  1. Oh this sounds hilarious. Sounds like a classic Rom-Com and I love those. I love when your just thrown in character wise and then the whole book is figuring out her feelings towards him and what to do when the month is out. I do enjoy a book more I think when I don’t really know what to expect either. Great review, Melliane. 🙂

  2. What a contrast in covers. This sounds like a lovely nice and summery read. I love that you had no trouble diving in and that you read it in one sitting. That speaks volumes.

  3. Sometimes, these books that provide easy entertainment are the best thing there is. I really enjoy discovering one here and there and I’m glad this was such a pleasant surprise for you.

  4. Love nice and fluffy and cute, especially when I’m in the mood for something quick and addictive and something light, though I’m totally all YA, haha, sounds good though, glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
