Day 5 – Interview – Cecy Robson (+Concours)

Welcome to Cecy Robson on the blog. She is the author of many series such as Carolina Beach where Infinite is released this motnth. Thanks to her for answering our questions. Sorry the giveaway is only France and Belgique.

Welcome on Between Dreams and Reality, can you introduce yourself in a few words?

Thank you. It’s lovely to be here. Oh, goodness. How about, Author, Registered Nurse, wife, mother, often tired. 😊

How do you find your titles?

Believe it or not, titles are HARD to develop. It seems the best ones have been used a thousand times over. Because I wanted a single word title to describe a love that’s forever and unbreakable, I developed Inseverable and really crushed on the title.

Did you imagine them all when you started the series or do you brainstorm each time?

Great question. Every time I draft a novel with series potential, I develop titles that will both capture the depth of each novel and will somehow complement the books that follow be it by branding it with a word or at times a subtitle. For example, my urban fantasy series Weird Girls has, “A Weird Girls Novel” as a subtitle and a brand word for the sisters. Celia’s brand word is “Curse” and Taran’s is “Flame.” In the Carolina Beach series, I focused on the forever and unbreakable bond I mentioned in the first question. 😊

INSEVERABLE

Initially, I had NO idea what I was doing for Eternal, Landon and Luci’s story. However, during the time when I was playing around with a few ideas, several people close to me were in the process of divorcing their spouses. Until that time, I was never close to anyone who had experienced divorce. For the first time, I witnessed the ugly, bitter, and painful side of it, as well as the defeatism my loved ones felt during the process and once it finalized. I decided that Landon and Luci’s story should be about second chances, about rediscovering true and forever love following heartbreak. Eternal is one of my favorite stories I’ve ever written and I’m looking forward to the French release this fall.

ETERNAL

After months of bad luck and even worse men, Luciana Diaz just wants to crawl under the covers and forget the year ever happened. Her friend has other plans, convincing Luci to attend a New Year’s Eve party on the affluent shores of Kiawah Island.

Luci never expected to have fun. She also never expected to wake up next to a man she just met, or for this man to be the new attorney at her firm.

Landon Summers is done with drama. After an ugly separation and even worse divorce, he has no desire to jump into another relationship.

When his sister Trinity drags him to a New Year’s Eve party, he doesn’t plan to stay long. One drink, a few hellos, and he’s out. Until he meets Luci, the first person in months to draw his smile and incite his passion.

Neither Luci nor Landon planned on each other, and they definitely didn’t plan on love. But the New Year means a fresh start, and eternal possibilities neither could deny . . .

Originally, Infinite, Hale and Becca’s story, was to release second. It was to feature Hale as a former American football player who has the opportunity for greatness when the Carolina Cougars (the football team where Becca is the publicist) holds open auditions in an attempt to fix the team’s embarrassing reputation. However, I had to throw the original idea away for all the right reasons. Before I could begin writing the novel, my agent called me to tell me the series had sold in France. Since American football isn’t popular in France, I had to change the storyline completely. I wasn’t certain what I would do so I decided to write and release Eternal, Landon and Luci’s novel first. When I did finally develop the storyline, I was blown away by how this beautiful love story unfolded and how these two broken souls found their peace. Infinite is likely the most poetic novel I’ve written and so sexy in all the right ways!

INFINITE

Hale Wilder, aka the Anaconda of Wall Street, spent his childhood fighting to be the best to win his father’s love. He was the best student and the best athlete, who grew into a successful businessman and took the finance world by storm. Want to retire before you’re forty-five? He’s got you. Need your millions to be billions? He’s your man.

Young, rich, and powerful, Hale was unstoppable, until a company scandal destroyed his reputation and threatened to bring down everything he bled for.
Becca Shields is the kickass public relations goddess spinning scandals to gold and launching has-beens into superstardom. She never expected to see Hale again—not following the humiliating night when her family caught them on the beach, barely clothed.
When Becca discovers Hale is in trouble, she can’t turn her back on the boy who was once her world and the man she never forgot.
Hale never thought he’d have another shot at greatness or with Becca. Now that he has both, he won’t let either go without a fight.

How do you feel now the O’Brien series is finished?

Oh, it’s such a bittersweet feeling. It was hard to type my last goodbye to the O’Briens, even though they’ll always be a part of my heart. I’m so proud of every character and honored how they’ve found a way into readers’ hearts. I receive fan mail about them all the time, describing how the characters feel like real people, real friends, and how they wish they could hang out with them in reality. The comments enliven my soul and make me so happy.

Was it difficult to have two series with the same characters?

If you’re referring to the Shattered Past series and the O’Brien Family novels, believe it or not, it was a natural transition. Readers first met Killian O’Brien in Once Perfect and the entire O’Brien clan in Once Pure. Readers were so enamored with this boisterous and funny family, they continued to ask for more stories. I’m delighted to report the Shattered Past series will be releasing in Italian!

In all your books which one is your favorite?

They’re all my favorites for different reasons. I can’t pick between my babies. 😊

Do you have a favorite author? Or a favorite book?

I have several favorite authors and novels. Patricia Briggs with Cry Wolf. Jim Butcher, Changes. Ilona Andrews, Magic Rises. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan with Deathly Hallows being my favorite.

Thank you so much for letting me stop by for a visit. It’s been a pleasure.

Bienvenue sur Between Dreams and Reality, pouvez-vous vous présenter en quelques mots ?

Merci. C’est sympa d’être ici. Oh, mon Dieu.
