The Lost Witch by Chandelle LaVaun

The Coven: Elemental Magic, Book 1

Synopsis: I thought magic was make believe…but I was way wrong.

I was nobody. No matter how hard I tried, I never fit in with anyone at my high school. Now I know why.

Turns out I’m a witch. A scary powerful one, too. Except The Coven that claimed me won’t teach me how to use my magic.

Suddenly, I’m selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I’m drawn to him on a level I can’t explain…and he’s forbidden from getting too close to me.

When the quest takes an unexpected dangerous turn, I have to improvise. This supernatural world is unraveling at my fingertips and I need to master my magic fast. If I don’t, I could get everyone I care about killed…

Review: It had been a while since I had read an urban fantasy novel and when I discovered this series, I was curious to discover this novel.

I admit that I did not expect to find a young adult novel and the characters are indeed 17 years old. But the mix is quite surprising with the young characters and the story that may seem a bit too adult for them.

This aside, I had a good time with the novel and we discover Tegan, but also Tennessee who seem to meet in the strangest places. But now, it seems that Tegan is much more than she thought. In fact, she could even be a powerful witch. Yet, this news comes with other problems when she realizes that she has to save the world with other Coven people and find a very important medallion.

It was a nice novel even though I was not completely convinced. I had a good time and the ideas are nice even though I would have liked a little more understanding of their family’s stories. I do not know yet if I’ll read more, but I’m curious to see more events for the characters.
