Outclassed by Annabel Chase

Warden of the West, Book 2

Synopsis: The ace in a pack of lies.

I’m doing my best to settle into life at the academy, and keep my secret under wraps. After all, I’m training for a future as a warden for the Agency of Magical Forces. Can’t have a mass-murdering evil father as part of my pedigree. I still can’t tell a rune from a rock, but life is good.

Until I discover a dead body in the river.

Before I know it, I’m thrust into an investigation to find the killer, which means using magic outside of my comfort zone. The more magic I use, the more I worry about succumbing to the dark side like my father. With the help of my new friends and the sexy vampire, Gray, I just might manage to live through it…if I’m lucky.

Review: I liked the first volume, but not as much as I expected. Anyway, I enjoyed this second installment, curious to see what Annabel Chase would come up with.

Bryn is more and more careful not to reveal her secret, but it’s hard when everyone is pushing her to the limit. And now, during a class, she discovers the impaled corpse of a human at the bottom of the river. Her longtime teacher and enemy, Armitage, is in charge of the investigation, but our heroine is determined to prove that she is better than him! Thrown into an investigation that may be more dangerous than expected, she will do everything she can to uncover the murderer.

I had a great time with this novel and was thrilled to find the characters. As this is a trilogy, events are accelerating here and I am curious now to find out what the author has planned for the end! I don’t want to give too much away; but the problems are just beginning!

A very good second volume!
