Synopsis: Along came a spider…

When Trish Muffet is attacked at a grisly crime scene, the last person she expects to come to her rescue is Nicky “Little Boy” Blue. But since walking away from everything two years before, Nicky’s been doling out vigilante justice as “The Spider,” taking on the vicious predators of the night in hopes it’ll lead him to his ultimate target – Vlad Dracula. And he needs Trish’s help.

Although Nicky’s renegade style goes against everything Trish stands for, she’ll do what she must to bring Dracula down. With danger stalking her, Trish knows the only person she can count on is the one man who has the power to leave her breathless. There’s no way she’s letting this spider frighten her away…

Review: I was looking forward to the release of the third installment of the adventures of our beloved tales characters. I didn’t really know Trish Muffet, and I think the story that many people know is underdeveloped in France. So it was really interesting to learn more about it here.

Trish is a young woman who has to adapt gradually to the new world in which she was thrown against her will. By her ability to read the dead, she became a friend and a colleague of Tess. Since her arrival she is also in love with Nicky “Little Boy” Blue, a very elusive man. But when Dracula continues to wreak havoc, and that the agency (consisting of ordinary humans) is attacking them, Trish and Nicky have to team up to track down the one who pulls the strings and if a bonus reconciliation occurs between both of them, this is not our young woman who will complain.

I loved this new story, it is full of twists and turns of situations that we did not expect. Kate Serine has perfectly set up a logical sequence that we follow blindly to finally surprise us at the end of the story. I was very happy to be able to follow our dear Nicky here. We had the chance to discover him in the first two volumes and it is true that I was eager to discover more about him. I must say he is full of resources when needed. Trish is much more sedate but still determined to get what she wants and it was very cute to see them both together throughout the story.

Of course, there is more and I loved to have Tess again, the character I prefer, along with Nate of course, but Lavender and Seth are never far away either. Our young Tess is about to give birth and is quite anxious over her child because his father is something completely unique. But this, too, we’ll know in due time.

This is a very good new story, and I still loved the ideas of the author about the tales characters that we all know. I recommend the series as it is very pleasant to read it.

Avis : J’attendais avec impatience la sortie de ce troisième volet des aventures de nos chers personnages de contes. Je ne connaissais pas vraiment Trish Muffet, et je pense que la comptine que beaucoup de monde connait est peu développée en France. Aussi il était vraiment intéressant d’en apprendre plus à son sujet ici.

Trish est une jeune femme qui a dû s’adapter petit à petit à ce nouveau monde dans lequel elle a été projetée contre son gré. De par ses aptitudes à lire les morts, elle est devenue amie et collègue de Tess. Depuis son arrivée elle est aussi amoureuse de Nicky “Little Boy” Blue, un homme très difficile à cerner. Mais quand Dracula continue à faire des ravages, que l’agence (composée d’humains ordinaires) s’en prend à eux, Trish et Nicky se doivent de faire équipe pour débusquer celui qui tire les ficelles et si en prime un rapprochement se produit, ce n’est pas notre jeune femme qui s’en plaindrait.

J’ai beaucoup aimé cette nouvelle histoire, elle est pleine de rebondissements et de retournements de situations auxquels on ne s’attendait pas. Kate Serine a parfaitement su mettre en place une suite logique que l’on suit aveuglément pour nous surprendre en fin d’histoire. J’étais très contente de pouvoir suivre notre cher Nicky ici. Nous avions eu la chance de le découvrir dans les deux premiers tomes et c’est vrai que j’étais impatiente d’en découvrir plus à son sujet. Il faut dire qu’il est plein de ressources quand il le faut. Trish est beaucoup plus posée mais tout de même déterminée à avoir ce qu’elle veut et c’était très mignon de les voir tous deux ensemble tout au long de l’histoire.

Bien sûr, il n’y a pas qu’eux et j’ai adoré pouvoir retrouver Tess, le personnage que je préfère avec Nate bien sûr, mais aussi Lavender et Seth qui ne sont jamais très loin. Notre jeune Tess est sur le point d’accoucher et est assez anxieuse par rapport à son enfant et le fait que son père est quelque chose de complètement unique. Mais tout cela aussi, nous le saurons en temps et en heure.

C’est une très bonne nouvelle histoire et j’aime toujours autant les idées de l’auteure quant aux personnages de contes que nous connaissons tous. Je vous recommande la série qui est très agréable à lire.

Review: After the story featuring Tess, Little Red Riding Hood and Nate Grimm, I was curious to find out who would be staged this time. And I must say that I was not disappointed. We find this time Lavender seeking for a new life after burning the remains of the Charmings. Stating that the Charming are not happy is an understatement, but if this was only them … Since she accidentally sent the story characters in the ordinary world, everyone hates her at the highest point. Everyone except a few people who will help her like Tess and send Seth. But surely she surely didn’t expect that the story would evolve in this way.

It was nice to find Seth once more. We can learn a little more about him and his past. It is true that we know many things through the first volume, but we know this time how he found himself cursed and more than that. It was really interesting to understand what happened to him and it will also allow us to know what exactly happened between him and Tess. Of course, Lavender never had an easy life either and her fate will quickly resonate in Seth. It was very cute to see them together and see the progress of their feelings. Our heroine is very different from the one we had the first volume, she is much quieter, raised and full of doubts. She has some lacks of confidence, but the presence of our beloved werewolf will help her to evolve and flourish. They share many moments together and also meet many of the most fascinating characters. Indeed, we meet Hansel and Gretel but also other less known. We will also have the chance to see Tess and Nate for our greatest pleasure. I appreciate both particularly.

The plot is also very intriguing; some human bodies are found in the city, covered with weird runes only known by Lavender. Runes that could incriminate her by her knowledge of magic. Our heroine is determined to understand what is happening and who is behind the terrible acts before someone else gets killed. But she probably does not expect to attract the wrath of many people and creatures she would have preferred to never meet. I was very curious to see who was behind all the problems.

New stories are highlighted here and we discover the ones of our protagonists with great pleasure. Kate Serine has a perfect command of her characters and their stories, and I can not wait now to read the third book and learn more about Trish and Nikky, this character who warms our heart. Another nice surprise.

Avis : Après l’histoire mettant en scène Tess, le petit chaperon rouge et Nate Grimm, j’étais curieuse de découvrir qui serait cette fois mis en scène. Et je dois dire que je n’ai pas été déçue. Nous retrouvons cette fois-ci Lavender en quête d’une nouvelle vie après avoir incendié la demeure des Charmants. Enoncer que les Charmants ne sont pas contents serait peu dire, mais s’il n’y avait que eux… Depuis qu’elle a malencontreusement envoyé les contes dans le monde ordinaire, tout le monde la déteste au plus haut point. Tout le monde à part quelques personnes dont Tess qui va l’aider et l’envoyer voir Seth pour qu’il l’aide à remonter la pente. Mais elle ne s’attendait sûrement pas à ce que l’histoire tourne de cette manière.

Ca faisait plaisir de retrouver Seth une fois de plus. Nous pouvons ainsi en apprendre un peu plus lui et son passé. Il est vrai que nous connaissions de nombreux éléments grâce au premier tome mais nous saurons cette fois-ci comment il s’est retrouvé maudit et plus encore. C’était vraiment intéressant de comprendre ce qu’il s’était passé et cela nous permettra aussi de savoir pourquoi il a agi ainsi avec Tess. Bien sûr, Lavender n’a pas eu non plus une vie facile et sa peine va très vite résonner avec celle de Seth. C’était très mignon de les voir ensemble et d’assister à l’évolution de leurs sentiments. Notre héroïne est très différente de celle du premier tome, elle est beaucoup plus calme, posée et pleine de doutes. Elle manque énormément de confiance en elle, mais la présence de notre cher loup garou l’aidera à évoluer et à s’affirmer. Ils partageront de nombreux moments ensemble et rencontreront aussi de nombreux personnages des plus fascinant. En effet, nous croisons par exemple Hansel et Gretel mais aussi d’autres moins connus. Nous aurons aussi la chance de voir Tess et Nate pour notre plus grand plaisir. Je les apprécie tous les deux particulièrement.

L’intrigue est aussi très prenante, certains corps d’humains sont retrouvés en ville, recouverts de runes que Lavender reconnait précisément. Des Runes qui pourraient l’incriminer vu ses connaissances en magie. Notre héroïne est donc bien décidée à comprendre ce qu’il se passe et qui se trouve derrière ses actes terribles avant que quelqu’un d’autre ne soit tué. Mais elle ne s’attendait surement pas à attirer la fureur de nombreux habitants et de créatures qu’elle aurait préféré ne jamais rencontrer. J’étais curieuse de voir qui était derrière tous les problèmes de notre héroïne.

De nouveaux contes sont mis en avant ici et on découvre les histoires de nos protagonistes avec grand plaisir. Kate Serine a une parfaite maîtrise de ses personnages et de ses histoires, et j’ai vraiment hâte maintenant je pouvoir lire le troisième tome et d’en apprendre plus sur Trish et Nikky, ce personnage qui nous réchauffe le cœur. Une autre jolie surprise.

Review: I heard a lot of things about this book since its release, I must say that my wonderful bloggers friends Marcela, Melissa and Julie wrote some sublime reviews about this one. They really made me want to discover the series and therefore this first volume. I needed a little time to read it due to lack of time and I really regret for not having done it before! And after reading it, I can say that I’ve immediately started the second one.

I must admit that before my review I would like to say that it is rare for me to like remakes of fairy tales. It is always very difficult to surpass the stories we all know. And it is true that I have been disappointed more than once, I had even given up hope of being amazed by a story like this one. But I was completely wrong and this book showed me how some authors perfectly mastered these stories and how they came to write real gems.

So now let’s talk about the story because it is what is the most interesting here! We discover Tess, also called Red, a young woman far from the naive little girl from the tale as we know it. After many adventures she became an investigator, working for a special branch dealing with characters from fairy tales. But maybe I should start with the world that Kate Serine has created so that you can understand how she got there. Indeed, these characters live among ordinary humans who are unaware of their existence. Appears here our heroine who takes care of this beautiful little world and who tries to bring law by any means. But her life will change dramatically when she had to team up with Nate Grimm or called Death, to investigate the murders of many fictional characters. Red is very talented in her work and is determined to find the culprit at any cost. But when she realizes that all the suspects are her former lovers, she is not very happy. Especially when the name of Seth appears, the man who broke her heart, the wolf of her youth. And even if she is convinced of the innocence of them all, she will need to investigate and to face her former lovers to find the truth.

I was completely swept away by the story, it was a wonderful surprise! Tess is a character I loved to understand and discover. She has everything for the perfect Urban Fantasy heroine: she is courageous, determined, dynamic but also full of fragility and weaknesses buried deep within herself. She shows a side of herself to each, but only a few people knows who she really is. It was really interesting to see all these persons around her, all the characters from the stories we love. We can thus have Dracula, Elizabeth Darcy and her husband, Seth the werewolf, Granny, and many others for our pleasure. But Nate is the one we really love! This character is the most intriguing. He is full of mysteries and contradictions. We know that he hides many things from Red, but he will be there for her no matter what happens and he will try to protect her as best he can. We hope to learn more about him and it will be the case as we progress in the story. The relationship we have between them both is really cute and I enjoyed seeing it grow and evolve little by little.

The plot is also full of suspense and I was eager to know who the culprit was. I must say that our doubts are always changing and it’s difficult to know who we can trust. Kate Serine perfectly knows how to lead her story and her characters. I look forward to learn more about each of them and to discover new ones. This book is filled with lovely ideas and if you are a lover of tales and urban fantasy, do not hesitate because you won’t be disappointed. This story is unique and this time it’s a perfect mix!
