Synopsis: Nicole Corisi will lose her inheritance if she doesn’t find a way around the terms of her father’s will, but she will have to partner up with her estranged brother’s rival to do it. As pretense becomes painfully real, Nicole will have to choose between Stephan and the family he is driven to destroy.

Stephan Andrade has been planning his revenge ever since Dominic Corisi unscrupulously took over his father’s company. With Corisi Enterprises gambling its reputation on the success of a new software network for China, Stephan finally has his chance to take back his legacy. Dominic’s younger sister, Nicole, asks Stephan for his help and provides him with an opportunity to exact his revenge on a personal level.

It all goes smoothly until he falls in love.

Review: I read this series in a quite disorder way since I tried the third book before this one. In fact now I think I need to get into the first one to finally discover the Abby’s story. I must say that I enjoyed going back in time to read the whole thing in reverse. This allowed me to discover new characters and finally to know at the end of the novel what was going to happen next. Because ultimately the end of this volume gives clues about something I liked to think about in the following one. But now I want my volume 1, to learn more about the Abby’s kidnapping, to know the history between Jake and her sister and maybe see Stephan and Nicole if they are present too.

Nicole’s father has just died and the company had inherited is in danger, including people who work there. To save them all, the young woman is ready to do anything, even to go and see the only man she thought she would never see again: Stephan. After a story that could have led to more, a problem has separated them to the point that the young man has devoted his life to destroy Dominic, the Nicole’s brother. A proposal is offered to the boss, a proposal he refuses elsewhere but now everything will evolve in a way that he no longer has a say. He must now help Nicole for her company, claiming that they are engaged to buy it and sell it to her later. But this is much more complicated than expected, especially when the two try to resist their mutual attraction and the history between their two families.

I took a great pleasure to follow this novel, perhaps even more than volume 3. It was nice to see these two souls together after all that happened between them. But Nicole wants everything and Stephan wants nothing, which will soon pose many problems as the young woman does not give up about that. So both will have to learn to discover each other, understand if there is something between them and maybe more. But they irritate, manipulate each other and ultimately evolve together. We learn at the same time a little more about the Stephan’s revenge, but also about the vulnerability and weaknesses of the young woman. Her life was really heartbreaking and we can hope that she will finally manage to be happy at the end.

It was a touching romance that I enjoyed getting to know about. Ruth Cardello allows us to attach ourselves to the characters very quickly and not let them go as we want to understand what will happen thereafter. It was a nice surprise to me.

Résumé : Nicole Corisi perdra son héritage si elle ne trouve pas un moyen de remplir les conditions de son père, mais elle devra s’associer avec le rival de son frère pour y arriver. Alors que les apparences deviennent douloureusement réelles, Niole devra choisir entre Stephan et la famille qu’il est bien décidé à détruire. Stephan Andrade planifie sa revanche depuis que Dominic Corisi a repris l’entreprise de son père. Alors que Corisi Enterprises joue sa réputation sur le succès d’un nouveau logiciel pour la Chine, Stephan a enfin sa chance de retrouver son héritage. La jeune sœur de Dominic, Nicole, demande de l’aide à Stephan et lui offre l’opportunité de se venger aussi sur un plan personnel. Tout allait bien… jusqu’à ce qu’il tombe amoureux d’elle.

Avis : Je lis un peu cette série dans le désordre vu que j’ai lu le troisième tome avant celui-ci. D’ailleurs maintenant je me dis qu’il ne me reste plus qu’à me lancer dans le premier pour enfin découvrir l’histoire d’Abby. Je dois dire que j’ai bien aimé remonter dans le temps et lire le tout à l’inverse. Cela m’a permis de découvrir de nouveaux personnages et finalement savoir en fin de roman ce qui allait se passer par la suite. Parce que finalement la fin de ce tome donne des indices sur lesquels j’ai bien aimé réfléchir dans la suite. Mais maintenant je veux mon tome 1, connaître le kidnapping d’Abby, connaître l’histoire qu’il y a eu entre sa sœur et Jake et peut-être voir Stephan et Nicole s’ils sont présents eux aussi.

Le père de Nicole vient de mourir et la société qu’elle vient d’hériter est en danger, notamment les personnes qui y travaillent. Pour sauver le tout, la jeune femme est prête à tout, même à se rendre chez l’homme qu’elle pensait ne jamais revoir : Stephan. Après une histoire qui aurait pu mener à bien plus, un problème les a séparés au point que le jeune homme a voué sa vie à détruire Dominic, le frère de Nicole. Une proposition est offerte à ce patron, une proposition qu’il refuse d’ailleurs mais voilà que tout va s’enchainer d’une façon qu’il n’a plus son mot à dire. Il doit maintenant aider Nicole dans son entreprise, prétendant qu’ils sont fiancés pour racheter et revendre sa compagnie. Mais tout cela est bien plus compliqué que prévu, surtout quand les deux essaient de résister à leur attraction mutuelle et à l’histoire qui existe entre leur deux familles.

J’ai pris énormément de plaisir à suivre ce roman, peut-être même plus que le tome 3. C’était agréable de voir ces deux âmes se retrouver après tout ce qu’il s’est passé entre eux. Mais Nicole veut tout et Stephan ne veut rien, ce qui va vite poser de nombreux problèmes étant donné que la jeune femme ne cède pas. Et donc les deux vont devoir apprendre à se découvrir, comprendre s’il reste quelque chose entre eux et peut-être plus. Mais ils s’irritent mutuellement, se manipulent et finalement évoluent ensemble. On en apprendra par la même occasion un peu plus sur la raison de la vengeance de Stephan, mais aussi sur la vulnérabilité et la faiblesse de Nicole. Sa vie fait vraiment très mal au cœur et c’est vrai qu’on espère tout au long du roman qu’elle parviendra enfin à être heureuse.

C’était une romance touchante, que j’ai beaucoup aimé découvrir. Ruth Cardello nous permet de nous attacher très vite à ses personnages et à ne plus les lâcher pour comprendre ce qu’il va se passer par la suite. C’était donc une bonne surprise pour moi.

Synopsis: Lil Dartley’s life is upside down. Her previously steadfast and predictable sister is marrying an influential billionaire and needs help planning the wedding of the century in less than a month. Years of middle class rebellion have not prepared Lil for handling diplomats or paparazzi.

Jake Walton knows a train wreck when he sees one. Lil was trouble from the first day he met her, but since her sister is marrying his best friend, he has no choice but to help her or this wedding will be in the news for all the wrong reasons. Teaching Lil how to fit into high society would be a whole lot easier if she didn’t drive him insane both in and out of the bedroom.

Review: I had not tried the previous volumes of the series but it’s true that I was curious to find out more since I heard about the novels. Well, I realize that it might probably be interesting to read the other volumes in the series to learn more about the characters and their stories, but that does not really pose any problems and I had a great time with this novel.

Lil is a very talented young woman, and she continually attracts disasters even if she tries to do her best not to. But now that she has a little 6 months old girl, she is determined to become the mother she should be and correct her mistakes. However, nothing goes as planned. Oh no, because she answers an interview about her sister and her future billionaire husband without realizing it will cause widespread disruption. Determined to prohibit the passage on TV, and assisted by Jake, the right arm of Dominic (the husband), she goes to outstrip all. Yet Lil is very far from happy to see this man, a man she fell under the spell earlier and who has explained that he wanted nothing from her. Yet an history will slowly develop between them, even if nothing is ever simple, and that the two are not very good at that.

It was very interesting to see the differences between Lil and Jake. They are diametrically opposed, oh yes! Lil is a walking disaster! But she also has a heart of gold and does everything to protect the people she loves. She is sweet, hoping to find a man she can love and who would love her as much in return. Building a family and live happily ever after. But that’s not really what Jake asked her. Oh man … He always used to control everything and Lil does not belong to that. She is far from the woman he dreamed of having yet something draws him to her. Alas, while Lil is afraid of commitment and to be thrown away thereafter, Jake does not reassure her all over their meetings and while he is usually gifted and mastered, he will make some great errors with our heroine. And I really understood Lil and her anger in some moments! But we must still rely on the presence of the little baby that was quite touching and it was cute to see how the two were still there for her.

I loved seeing their relationship, to see how Lil and Jake tried to manage everything happening. We also meet the sister of the young woman and her husband and it’s true that everything made ​​me want to discover their history which I think is quite funny as it is about kidnapping. By cons it is true that I was quite surprised at the end of the novel because for once I think the author wanted to go too fast with romance and I think it would have been better to keep everything simpler, but that’s just my opinion.

In any case it was an enjoyable read, a good romance and I think I will try something else from the author when I get the chance.

Résumé : L’amour est aveugle… et il ne faut pas compter sur le mariage pour lui rendre la vue !

La vie de Lil est sens dessus dessous. Sur le point d’épouser un homme richissime, sa soeur fait appel à elle pour organiser le mariage du siècle en moins d’un mois. Cette jeune femme issue d’un milieu modeste n’a pas l’habitude de gérer des milliardaires et des paparazzis. Bras droit de Dominic, Jake voit en Lil une catastrophe ambulante. Dès le premier jour, elle a été une source d’ennuis, mais comme son meilleur ami s’apprête à épouser sa soeur, il n’a d’autre choix que de l’aider. La jeune femme ne va pas tarder à le rendre complètement fou, dans la vie comme dans la chambre à coucher…

Avis : Je n’avais pas tenté les tomes précédents de la série mais c’est vrai que j’étais curieuse d’en découvrir plus depuis que j’ai entendu parler des romans. Bon vraisemblablement, je réalise qu’il est peut-être intéressant de lire les autres volumes de la série pour en connaître un peu plus sur les personnages et leurs histoires mais cela ne pose pas vraiment de problèmes et j’ai passé un très bon moment avec ce roman.

Lil n’est pas une jeune femme très douée, et elle attire continuellement les catastrophes alors qu’elle essaie en réalité d’agir au mieux. Mais maintenant qu’elle a une petite fille de 6 mois, elle est bien décidée à devenir la mère qu’elle devrait être et à rectifier ses erreurs. Pourtant rien ne se passe comme prévu. Oh non, parce qu’en répondant à une interview sur sa sœur et son futur mari milliardaire sans se rendre compte, elle va provoquer un bouleversement à grande échelle. Bien décidée à interdire ce passage à la télé, et aidée par Jake, le bras droit de Dominic (le futur mari), elle va parvenir à annuler le tout. Pourtant, Lil est très loin d’être heureuse de voir cet homme, un homme pour qui elle a un faible et qui lui a bien expliqué qu’il ne désirait rien d’elle. Et pourtant, une histoire va naître doucement entre eux, même si rien n’est jamais simple et que les deux ne sont pas très doués pour cela.

C’était très intéressant de voir la différence entre Lil et Jake. Ils sont diamétralement opposés, oh oui ! Lil est une véritable catastrophe ambulante ! Mais elle a aussi un cœur en or et fait tout pour protéger les gens qu’elle aime. Elle a une âme un peu fleur bleue, espérant trouver un homme qu’elle puisse aimer et qui l’aime en retour. Construire une famille et vivre heureuse. Mais ce n’est pas vraiment ce que Jake lui propose. Ah cet homme… Il a toujours eu l’habitude de contrôler toutes choses et Lil n’en fait pas partie. Elle est loin d’être la femme qu’il rêvait d’avoir mais pourtant quelque chose l’attire chez elle. Hélas, alors que Lil a peur de l’engagement et de se faire ensuite jeter sans plus de ménagements, Jake ne la rassure pas du tout par rapport à cela et alors qu’il est d’habitude doué et maîtrisé, il fera un grand nombre d’erreurs avec notre héroïne. Et comme je comprends Lil et ses colères dans certains moments ! Mais il faut toujours aussi compter sur la présence du petit bébé qui était assez touchante et c’était mignon de voir comment les deux étaient toujours présents pour elle.

J’ai beaucoup aimé voir leur relation et la façon dont Lil et Jake géraient tout ce qu’il se passait. On rencontre aussi la sœur de la jeune femme et son futur mari et c’est vrai que le tout m’a donné envie de découvrir leur histoire qui je pense est assez drôle vu qu’il est question de kidnapping. Par contre c’est vrai que j’ai été assez surprise  par la fin de l’histoire parce que pour le coup je pense que l’auteur a voulu aller trop vite avec la romance et je pense qu’il aurait été mieux de garder le tout plus simple, mais ce n’est que mon opinion.

Dans tous les cas c’était une lecture agréable, une bonne romance et je pense que je tenterai autre chose de l’auteure quand j’en aurai l’occasion.
