Review: I loved, loved, loved the first volume! So I was more than eager to get into the sequel. I wondered what the author was going to offer us after all that had happened previously. Still, I found this book lower than the first one. There wasn’t much that was new.

Court Gentry is now under the orders of a Russian who wants to send him to kill an African president whom everyone hates. Perfect for him! But he also finds himself in front of the CIA, who want to bring this president to justice, in front of a jury. If he accepts, Court will be able to work for them again and, above all, no one will come after him again. Tempting, isn’t it? But nothing goes according to the plan.

I had a good time with this story, but I was a little disappointed by Court. He’s supposed to be one of the best! As we saw in the previous volume, he’s incredible. But here? He makes mistake after mistake, like a beginner, and I found that rather surprising. He reveals part of who he is to a stranger, he gets caught by the CIA, he’s lost without knowing what to do on numerous occasions. I found this surprising for the man we discovered in the previous volume.

That aside, I still enjoyed my reading and am curious to read the sequel.
