Review: I didn’t know the Breeds series before starting this book and I was a little afraid to be completely lost with this 27th volume. Besides, I’m quite impressed by this number, it is rare to find a long paranormal romance series (and I haven’t even read a paranormal romance series or something else that has reached a high number like this one). On the contrary, I didn’t have any problems with the story or for understanding the events and the characters.
Liza is a young woman who has never asked anything to anyone and who loves her independence and freedom more than anything. But when one day she is attacked by some persons she doesn’t know about, the Breeds assign Stygian to protect her, something that she doesn’t like at all. But all this is only the beginning of something much bigger. Therefore, Jonas, the head of Breeds, tries to force our heroine to give him the answers to his problem, although she does not even know what he’s talking about. Indeed he is looking for two young women to save his sick daughter, and he is convinced that Liza has the power to help them. In addition to that, an intense bond is forming between Liza and Stygian who believes that she is his soul mate. The fact is that she doesn’t want to stay with him doesn’t matter and he is determined to make her change her mind by all means. Our heroine will have to face many problems and it will be very hard for her to evolve throughout the novel. She learned many secrets related to her past and about who she is that will turn her life upside down.
 
I enjoyed the story and the plot of this book. It was very interesting to see with Liza what was happening, because even if you already know some parts of the truth, many issues are unclear. However, I have also some negative points about my read … I had a lot problems with the language that the author uses, which is often a little too vulgar for me. I can understand that our couple only thinks about jumping on each other, but I would still have prefered it a little softer and I admit that after a while I just jumped the intimate passages of our two protagonists as we didn’t need them for the story. I was also surprised by the ending, which for me is not really an “end”. I don’t know how the other volumes were made, so I do not really know if the author continues her story in each volume, but despite Liza understands the truth, there is no real end to the story and we are left to wait for the next volume.

So I’ve had good and not so good things about this book, but it was still an enjoyable read and our two heroes are very interesting to discover. Liza is a character far more complex than we might have been expected to discover.

Avis : Je ne connaissais pas la série Breeds avant de commencer ce livre et j’avais un peu peur d’être complètement perdue avec ce 27etome. D’ailleurs je suis assez impressionnée par ce nombre, il est rare de trouver une si longue série en romance paranormale (et je n’ai même pas encore lu une série romance paranormale ou autre qui ait atteint un nombre aussi élevé). A l’encontre de ce que j’avais pensé au départ, je n’ai eu aucun souci avec l’histoire ou la compréhension des événements et des personnages.
Liza est une jeune femme qui n’a jamais rien demandé à personne et qui aime son indépendance et sa liberté plus que tout. Mais quand un jour, elle est attaquée par des gens qu’elle ne connait pas, les Breeds lui assignent Stygian pour la protéger ; chose qui d’ailleurs ne l’enchante pas du tout. Mais tout cela n’est que le début de quelque chose de bien plus grand. Dès lors, Jonas, le chef des Breeds, essaie de forcer notre héroïne à lui donner les réponses à son problème bien qu’elle ne sache même pas de quoi il parle. En effet il recherche deux jeunes femmes pour sauver sa fille malade, et il est persuadé que Liza a le pouvoir de les aider. En plus de cela, un lien intense se forme entre Liza et Stygian qui est persuadé qu’elle est son âme sœur. Le fait qu’elle ne veuille pas rester avec lui n’y change rien et il est bien décidé à lui faire changer d’avis par tous les moyens. Notre héroïne va devoir faire face à de nombreux problèmes et ça sera très dur pour elle d’évoluer tout au long du roman. Il faut dire qu’elle apprend de nombreux secrets liés à son passé et à la personne qu’elle est, qui remettra tout en question.
J’ai beaucoup apprécié l’histoire et l’intrigue de ce livre. C’était très intéressant de découvrir avec Liza ce qu’il se passait exactement, car même si on se doute assez vite de la vérité, de nombreux points sont à éclaircir. J’ai cependant aussi quelques points négatifs par rapport à cette lecture… J’ai eu beaucoup de mal avec le langage que l’auteur utilise, qui est souvent un peu trop vulgaire pour moi. Je peux comprendre que notre couple ne pense qu’à se sauter l’un sur l’autre mais je préfère quand c’est un petit peu plus soft et j’avoue qu’au bout d’un moment j’ai un peu sauté les passages intimes de nos deux protagonistes qui selon le moment ne servaient pas à grand-chose. J’ai été aussi surprise par la fin qui pour moi n’est pas vraiment une « fin ».  Je ne sais pas comment les autres tomes étaient faits, alors je ne peux pas vraiment savoir si l’auteur continue son histoire dans chaque tome, mais bien que Liza comprenne la vérité, il n’y a pas de réelle fin à l’histoire et il ne nous reste plus qu’à attendre le prochain tome.
J’ai donc eu du bon et du moins bon, mais c’était tout de même une lecture agréable et nos deux héros sont très intéressants à découvrir. Liza est un personnage bien plus complexe qu’on aurait pu le croire et la découvrir a été un vrai plaisir.
