Eternal by Cecy Robson

Carolina Beach, Book 2

Synopsis: After months of bad luck and even worse men, Luciana Diaz just wants to crawl under the covers and forget the year ever happened. Her friend has other plans, convincing Luci to attend a New Year’s Eve party on the affluent shores of Kiawah Island.

Luci never expected to have fun. She also never expected to wake up with a man she just met, or for this man to be the new attorney at her firm.

Landon Summers is done with drama. After an ugly separation and even worse divorce, he has no desire to jump into another relationship.

When his sister Trinity drags him to a New Year’s Eve party, he doesn’t plan to stay long. One drink, a few hellos, and he’s out. Until he meets Luci, the first person in months to draw his smile and incite his passion.

Neither Luci nor Landon planned on each other, and they definitely didn’t plan on love. But the New Year means a fresh start, and eternal possibilities neither could deny .

Review: I love Cecy Robson and I was looking forward to this second romance. So we discover Landon, the brother of Trin, whom we discovered in the first volume and who is recovering from a terrible divorce after discovering her wife cheating on him. Luci, is a young woman who has never had a very easy life, but when she agrees to accompany a friend at a party, she does not expect to discover Landon. But after a hot weekend, they did not think of seeing each other until Landon started working in a practice where Luci is.

It was very touching to see these two characters discover and rebuild with each other. They try to understand little by little what happens between them without necessarily doing it in a hurry. It was a really cute romance that we find between the two characters. I also liked the fact that the author let us know the secrets of Luci, especially her homeless mother, whom she does not manage to give up although she does not seem to want her help. It is true that it is one of the parts of the story that I found the most interesting. We understand well the Luci’s desire to help, to improve things but when we see that her mother treats her less than nothing and does not hesitate to place her in dangerous situations, it is rather sad. I admit that I was quite disappointed the story left unresolved on this subject, without further mentioning thereafter.

In any case I had a good time with this second volume and it was a real pleasure to find the characters of the first novel.
