The Will by Kristen Ashley

Magdalene, Book 1

Synopsis: Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Review: I’ve had a great time with all of the author’s novels, so I was really looking forward to this series!

Josephine Marlone is back in Magdalene after the death of her grandmother whom she loved more than anything. It’s far from easy and she’s on her own to deal with the grief. Or at least, that’s what she believes until the will is opened. Indeed, it seems that her grandmother was very close to a man and his family (his three children) and that in addition to leaving him money (no worries), Lydia also noted in the document that she left Jake the care of her granddaughter. What a joke! Josie can handle herself perfectly well! And even though Jake is attractive, she is determined to stay in control. But despite all her determination, she might start to fall in love with him.

The story was nice, but unfortunately, I had a hard time getting hooked, I found it below the others. That aside, the writing is fluid and engaging. And I must admit that I am quite curious to see the movie based on the story!
