Sin City Collectors
Synopsis: Welcome to Vegas. Home of the Sin City Collectors. The job description is easy: Bring the offending supernatural in to the Boss and don’t ask any questions.
Nevada Hamilton has learned a few things since becoming a Sin City Collector, and staying away from vampires is one of them. After botching her first Collection, the vamp getting away after causing as much damage as possible, she hasn’t been assigned to another one since.
But when she receives her next playing card, she’s in for a surprise. Not only is a vampire her next target, but they’ve paired her up to make sure she gets the job done right. Refusing a Collection is not an option, but when she discovers who she’s working with, making the mission as difficult as possible for her new partner becomes her top priority…
Being a hellhound isn’t enough to protect Jake Troubadour from Nevada Hamilton, no matter how thick his skin is. Finding out he has to work with the beautiful dhampir, after not seeing her for three years, is a low blow—but Jake is a professional. He takes his Collections as seriously as he does running his bar. He’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done, but after that, he’s out. No more chances for the girl who wrecked his bike and scarred his soul so long ago. But even with his heart dead set against it, this hellhound quickly finds he’s not immune to love after all.
What’s Collected in Vegas, stays in Vegas…
Review: I love Amanda Carlson, so when I saw she was going to release a novella, I did not hesitate before starting it. I can tell you that we have a great time over the pages. The novel itself is not very long, but Amanda makes us really want to discover more about this world and her characters.
We discover Neve, a dhampir which has a fairly long history… between her hatred over the vampires, a difficult childhood and a life full of danger and survival. She works in an organization that deals with supernatural punishments when some persons break the rules governing them. That’s where our heroine comes to track and bring these criminals back. But while she decided to stay away from vampires, she finds herself with a new case compelling her to face her fears. Telling that she is not happy is an understatement, but when she learns that she must team up with a man of her past, nothing can make her happy.
I really had a great time with this story and I must say that I was surprised by many of the revelations. Neve will see her life turned upside down in an instant and she may discover some of her past and future. I loved discovering her and Jake as they form quite a duo and I loved attending their arguments.
To conclude, Amanda Carlson presents us once again a very good story and I hope as always to discover more soon.

I’m still on the fence about this series; I’m not a big fan of novellas, but so far all of the reviews I’ve read have been excellent. I like that each installment is by a different author though. Maybe once a few have been released I’ll read ’em back-to-back.
Melliane
I’m not either but well when I love the author it’s usually ok as it’s the case here.
kindlemom1
I love when novellas are so well done and pull you right into the story and leave you wanting more.
Melliane
oh yes! I’m so curious now!

Yet another author I need to try Melliane! I’ve heard such good things about her books, and whenever an author gets consistent glowing reviews from a wide variety of bloggers, I know I need to read something of theirs asap. Looking forward to this one!
Melliane
Yes she is really great!

I’m a fan but obviously a bad one coz I didn’t know this was comin out or hers! I read another review yesterday, was wondering if the hero turns into a 3-headed monster canine
Melliane

I’m not big on novellas, but when done right they can be really good. I’ve not read this series or author, but damn, I love Vegas. 🙂
Melliane
Yeah me neither but it’s ok for one from time to time.
Kirsty-Marie
I haven’t read any of hers before, and I’m don’t really read any novellas unless it’s apart of a series I really love, and I think I’ve only ever read two novellas, haha. Glad it was a quick entertaining read! 🙂
Melliane
the same here so I can understand the problem.
Lily
I’m not a big novella reader (usually i find them expensive and pointless) but i am interested in the plot of this one and the whole dhampir thing!
