Synopsis: A cat. A seagull. An impossible task.
A worldwide bestseller and the subject of a feature film, THE STORY OF A SEAGULL… is finally out in paperback!

Her wings burdened by an oil slick, a seagull struggles to the nearest port to lay her final egg. Exhausted, she lands on a balcony where Zorba the cat is sunning himself. She extracts three extraordinary promises from him: that he will watch over the egg, that he will not EAT the egg, and that, when it’s time, he will teach the baby gull to fly. The first two promises are hard enough, but the third one is surely impossible. Isn’t it?

Review: I did not know about this novel but when livre-vie recommends me a book, I confess that I am always intrigued. It is a small book with short chapters and we can read it very quickly. It’s quite nice to have such a format, especially when the author has such a poetic pen.

The story itself is not very complicated: a cat brooding a Seagull egg and who is determined to do anything to help her fly as he promised her mother. But it is true that what quickly retains our attention is the sweetness and the melody of the writing by the author who gently leads us into his history.

It is a novel that soothes and touches us in its own way. Something a little different.

What a whimsical story! I’d probably cry over the mama seagull, but then cheer on the cat with his promises.

Hmm, for some reason my first comment didn’t post, so I’ll just type it again!

I feel like this would be a great book to read to my children! I love the idea of a cat caring for a seagull. You also don’t see too many books about seagulls, lol. This reminds me of Charlotte’s web, and how the pig cared for her eggs at the end.
