Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews

Kate Daniels, Book 10

Synopsis: Mercenary Kate Daniels must risk all to protect everything she holds dear in this epic, can’t-miss entry in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

Kate has come a long way from her origins as a loner taking care of paranormal problems in post-Shift Atlanta. She’s made friends and enemies. She’s found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.

Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate’s doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.

Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.

For her child.

For Atlanta.

For the world.

Review: I think that everyone is looking forward to this novel. Yes, I know it because I waited for it more than anything. And yet, I am just as sad to have it in my hands, to have read it, because I loved this series so much that it is difficult to see it coming to an end. But how to resist it?

You suspect that once again Kate and her friends will have to face new problems. Moreover, if she did not have enough with her father, an old enemy appears, one she is not sure to be able to counter. She will have to play carefully if she wants to succeed in saving everyone!

I do not want to reveal much about the plot. I do not want to spoil anything because I think it would be a shame. But I must say that I was pleased to see Conlan. He is a fascinating and interesting little boy. We quickly get on with him as with any other character and I loved to see him change, and live with his family, to see Kate as a mother, and all her allies which are desperate to help and protect him.

I loved this novel again, it was a perfect conclusion and there are many things to discover, many things I did not expect and the authors managed to make an extraordinary end that does not change the level of the series. I hope, however, that we will have a spin off on Julie soon with such a conclusion.

Many things to discover and I’m sure everyone will be delighted by this ending! I just have to add that I strongly advise you to read the spin off about Hugh and Elara before you get into this one because there are a lot of references. A great conclusion for a series that is just as great!

  1. I agree completely. Such a great story and ending for Kate and Curran. I know that Ilona and Gordon have other books planned in this world, so I’m sure we will see more of them. I know that I will be along for whatever ride they want to take us on. 🙂 Great review.

  2. This author never disappoints. I loved this so much, I didn’t resist a moment or worry about being sad. I’ll enjoy everything they write plus there will be more Hugh / Elara books and maybe Julie / Derek.

Conlan really added to the story but it was so well crafted with many layers of plots, not just one thing. Nice review! Anne – Books of My Heart

  3. Aw, this is the end, right? Well, at least it means I won’t fall any farther behind now, lol. But yes, it’s sad when you have to say good bye to a beloved series. I’m glad this ending knocked it out of the park for you though.
