The Guzzi Legacy, Book 1
Synopsis:The son of a prominent Cosa Nostra Don, Corrado Guzzi’s life should have been all mapped out. He would be what every other Guzzi man was, too—made, mafia. It’s their way. But when given another choice, the chance to be something more, he takes it. Even if it comes with strings.
It’s there that he might find where he belongs, and Alessio Sorrento. The man who could change his whole life.
This love thing? It should have been easy, but they made it hard. Nothing about a relationship like theirs is simple. Dictated by rules, weighed down with things left unsaid, and already hanging by a frayed thread.
This is what love looks like before, and after.
Before she came along.
And after she was there.
It takes one woman to change everything.
Ginevra Calabrese wasn’t ready for this—for them.
So, what happens now?
NOTE: Corrado (book one) and Alessio (book two) are a duet within The Guzzi Legacy series, and should be read in order. All other titles in the series are standalone. This is NOT a love triangle.
Review: I wasn’t sure what to expect with this novel, but when I saw that it featured Ginevra and after I discovered her in Vow, I was really curious to find out what was going to happen to her. If we have some points of view on her side and scenes already seen in Vow, there is much more than that! (and a little bonus: we also see Andino!).
But here it is, if she is very important to the story, she is not the key element. No, Alessio and Corrado are. Their story is, and their evolution within the League. It was really interesting to see Corrado do everything to be part of this organization, to try to understand how he would be able to accept his bisexuality in an environment like the one of the mafia. But Alessio happened, and things were done naturally and yet always complicated, because of this refusal to accept what he feels. So yes, he hurts Alessio, more than once, and it’s really difficult and touching to see what they’re doing with the other even though Corrado has a bigger part in it.
I’m not a great reader of M/M, I usually can’t connect much with the love relationship but Bethany-Kris wrote it with a masterful hand and I let myself be completely carried away by the characters’ feelings. It’s rough, it’s difficult and yet so well done.
Then things will change, Ginevra’s arrival will upset everything and they will no longer be as they were before. Choices will have to be made. It will not be easy. Corrado could destroy everything.
A great first novel and I look forward to reading more!
Yes, that is an interesting twist having a bi-sexual character in the mafia and the complications that come with it. Neat how the author made you believe in the romance. Hope the next book keeps up how good this one is.
I love M/M romances but I’m not a menage fan. :/
for now it’s not menage but maybe in book 2
Sounds good and I hope the next book in the series is just as good.
Glad it worked out for you! I need to read more M/M or F/F
I do want to try a mafia book, but there sure are many
she is writing a lot of them
Glad this was a good one!
It is a good sign when you end up enjoying something that doesn’t usually work for you. This sounds like a very good read.
An M/M relationship, and a mafia romance at that. I’m glad you are finding so many good reads in the genre! 🙂
it’s always the sale author but they’re fun
This sounds good. Glad to her you enjoyed it.
Its good to know you had a good time with this one.
