Hide and Seek by M.J. Arlidge

Helen Grace, 6

Synopsis: Caught in a wicked game of cat and mouse, Helen Grace finds herself trapped among the hunted in the darkest thriller yet from the international bestselling author of Little Boy Blue and Eeny Meeny.

Framed for a murder she didn’t commit…
As one of HM Prison Holloway’s most high-profile new inmates, Helen Grace has a target on her back and nowhere to hide. She has made a long list of enemies over the course of her career–some are incarcerated within these very walls. When one of Helen’s fellow prisoners is found mutilated and murdered in her own locked cell, it’s clear that the killer is someone on the inside.

But time is running out for Helen as she races to expose the person who framed her, and the body count in the prison starts to climb. Helen will need to draw on all her investigative skills and instincts to catch the serial killer behind these murders and discover the truth–unless the killer finds her first.

Review: I didn’t know about this novel, but I was very intrigued by the synopsis. However, I must say that I didn’t know that this story was part of a series and that it was a volume 6. While I think it’s a pity that I don’t know exactly how the heroine ended up in such a situation, it wasn’t necessarily very embarrassing and I really had a great time reading it and I’m very curious to read the other novels by the author.

Helen Grace is a cop in prison and it’s really not an easy situation for her. She has locked up many of the women who are in that prison and some of them are just waiting for revenge. Our heroine will have to muster all her courage to survive until her trial. Fortunately for her, some of the women want to help her. But when murders start to happen in the prison and that Grace starts looking for the murderer, things are going to go from bad to worse.

At the same time, we will also follow Brooks, a policewoman and friend of Helen’s, who is doing everything she can to try to clear her name, to the point of putting everything on the line, whether it’s her family or her job.

It was a very good novel full of suspense, and I loved following this investigation. I’ll be very curious, as I was saying, to go back and find out more about our heroine.

  1. Je suis heureuse que tu as aimé ce livre ! Il est amusant que tu aies lu le livre sixième. C’est quelque chose que j’ai avant aussi, mais je suppose que cela donne une nouvelle perspective (?) haha. Bonne critique !
