Karma by Donna Augustine

Karma, Book 1

Synopsis: People say karma’s a…well, you know. Personally, I don’t think I’m that bad. It’s not like I wanted this job. I wasn’t even in my right mind when I accepted the position.

Now, I’m surrounded by crazy coworkers like Lady Luck, who’s a bit of a tramp, and Murphy’s Law, who’s a bumbling oaf. But the worst is Fate. He’s got a problem with transfers like myself, and I have to see him constantly. It’s unavoidable. We’re hunting the same man—my murderer.

Avis : I took this novel because it was free and I was very intrigued to discover the story, I must say. I can tell you that I had a very good time!

Camilla has just died… It’s already hard enough to live with, but when a man appears to offer her a deal, the one to be able to stay on earth but in another form, she accepts without thinking… She should have, because she is now forced to work for a minimum of a month as Karma! Yes, the personified Karma and her colleagues at work are no other than Fate, Chance, Cupid, Death and many others! The problem is that everyone avoids her, that Fate, with whom she must work with, hates her more than anything else and that she is determined to find her murderer to make him pay!

I really had a good time with this novel and I thought it was nice to discover a different story. I enjoyed meeting these colorful characters, seeing how they interacted in society with others. It’s quite sad to see how our heroine adapts to all this and at the same time, we understand that it’s not easy. The author had some good ideas and I was delighted to discover the whole thing.

I am curious to see what will happen now, because there are still a lot of questions outstanding.
