House of Shadows by K.A. Linde

Royal Houses, Book 2

Synopsis: Kerrigan Argon, a half-human, half-Fae, has joined the Dragon Society against almost everyone’s wishes.

A year of training is required with her dragon.

But first she must travel with the dark Fae prince, Fordham Ollivier, back to his home in the House of Shadows. Nothing but slavery and death has ever awaited a half-Fae in their halls.

Yet something is wrong within their wicked world. A thousand year old spell is weakening. Cracks forming in the foundation. And Kerrigan may just be their ruin or their salvation.

Review: The first volume of the series was a lot of fun and I was curious to find out what happened to our beloved characters.

Kerrigan has finally managed to get into society, even though she didn’t think it was possible. But even better: she has a dragon. Unfortunately, life isn’t always easy. After discovering the House of Shadows, a visit that doesn’t go as planned, she finds herself thrown into her training. Problem: everything is more complicated than expected. Especially since she’s hiding a secret that could get her fired.

What’s more, her former fiancé turns up and says their engagement is still on, no matter what she says. Kerrigan doesn’t want it, but she’ll have to find a way to break the bond he seems to want more than anything.

A war is coming and Fordham will have to choose his place, and it won’t be easy. Our two heroes will have to make some tough choices, and the consequences will be just as difficult. I’m very curious to read the last volume, after everything that’s happened here.
