Review: As soon as I saw the cover of the novel, I knew I had to read it. I think we can only fall in love with this sublime illustration. But that’s not all because, I admit that I have a soft spot for anything that is related to the faes, then the mixture could only please me. And yet …

Before starting reading it, I had the opportunity to read two very mixed reviews and I confess that it made me a little anxious. However, starting the story myself, I was quickly swept away by the whole thing. Yes, the author depicts a young woman, Alina, who finds herself in a story completely beyond her. Indeed, her life will completely change when she rescues Reign one day, a fae that everyone seems to hunt. Alas, appearances are very deceiving and our heroine will quickly understand that something is wrong and that starts with her own existence. She will have to try to understand a world she does not know about and where everything seems scary.

As I said I enjoyed reading the story at first … unfortunately, this feeling did not really remain thereafter. While all the new events are interesting, the middle of the story arrived, and I found that the story began to drag long and finally I had a little trouble staying interested in the characters and the events. I think that I expected a little more, and in the end I found it hard not to put the book down and aside. Yet the world is interesting, the direction that the story takes too, but something was missing for more. The romance did not really convince me and finally neither the characters.

However, as I said the ideas are very nice and there are a few different myths about the faes that I really loved to discover. This novel was therefore perhaps not for me, but I have no doubt that it will please to others.

Avis : Dès que j’ai vu la couverture du roman, j’ai su que je devais le lire. Je pense qu’on ne peut que tomber amoureux de cette sublime illustration. Mais ce n’est pas tout car, je l’avoue, j’ai un gros faible pour tout ce qui a trait aux faes, alors le mélange ne pouvait que me plaire. Et pourtant…

Avant de commencer la lecture, j’ai eu l’occasion de lire deux avis très mitigés et j’avoue que cela m’a rendue un peu anxieuse. Pourtant en commençant l’histoire, moi-même, j’ai été assez vite emportée par le tout. Oui, l’auteure met en scène une jeune femme, Alina, qui se retrouve dans une histoire qui la dépasse complètement. En effet, sa vie va complètement changer quand elle sauve un jour Reign, un fae que tout le monde semble traquer. Hélas, les apparences sont vraiment trompeuses et notre héroïne va vite comprendre que quelque chose cloche et cela commence par sa propre existence. Elle va devoir essayer de comprendre un monde qu’elle ne connait pas et où tout semble effrayant.

Comme je le disais j’ai beaucoup apprécié la lecture dès les premiers chapitres… hélas, ce sentiment n’est pas vraiment resté par la suite. Alors que toutes les nouveautés nous plaisent, le milieu de l’histoire arrivant, j’ai trouvé que l’histoire commençait à trainer en longueur et finalement j’ai eu un peu de mal à rester intéressée par les personnages et ce qui allait se passer. Je pense que j’en attendais un peu plus, et au final, j’ai eu du mal à ne pas poser le livre et le laisser de côté. Pourtant le monde est intéressant, la direction que prend l’histoire aussi, mais il m’a manqué quelque chose pour plus. La romance ne m’a pas vraiment convaincue et finalement les personnages non plus.

Cependant, comme je le disais les idées sont très sympas et on retrouve quelques mythes différents sur les faes que j’ai beaucoup aimés découvrir. Ce roman n’était donc peut-être pas pour moi, mais je ne doute pas qu’il plaira à d’autres.
