Of Flame and Promise de Cecy Robson (VO)

Weird Girls, Tome 6

———-

Many of my Weird Girls fans know that my master vampire, Misha, and Celia (golden tigress and main protagonist) share a very close friendship bond. What many don’t know is that in the original draft of the first novel, that initial connection was a marriage bond created as a result of Celia biting Misha during a one night.

This bond didn’t make the final cut of the original novel, Sealed with a Curse, because my editor at the time felt that Celia shouldn’t be bonded to two men. To preface the never-before scene below, Celia is convinced she’s married. Let’s just say, she’s not happy.

I called Misha and he agreed to meet me alone at a nearby coffee shop. I was already sitting when he came in. Hank and Tim, his dutiful bodyguards, waited outside for him.

Several women and even some men turned to look at Misha as he passed the row of tables. I couldn’t blame them; it should be illegal to look that good. His hair lay loose against his shoulders and blond strands framed his face. A black turtle neck clung to his lean muscular frame and charcoal slacks no doubt hugged his fine ass. He gave me a look and a smile that made my happy place ache. My mind began to wander to last night’s events. I bit the inside of my cheek in order to focus.

“You look lovely, Celia.”

I didn’t, but he got a few points for making an effort. He bent down to kiss me and I practically fell off my chair avoiding him. He chuckled, but didn’t push and sat down.

“I had a great time last night, you were so sexy,” he purred. “No one has ever wrapped themselves so tightly around my—

“Yes, about that,” I interrupted as my groin began to throb. “I was really drunk and I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“Oh believe me, you did. You were amazing, especially for someone with so little experience. Had I been human I would have needed ointment for my—

“I meant the biting you part.” I was trying to will my pulsating parts to stop. “I didn’t know what it meant to your kind. I lost control and I’m truly sorry.”

He looked at me, slightly surprised. Then comprehension lit his eyes. His face turned a deadly calm as he spoke his next words. “Do you realize what this means to me? I am a part of you now. You cannot simply refuse me.” He paused and rubbed at his face. “The only way to break the bond that you started is through death.”

Death?” I asked incredulously. “Did you say death? You mean one of us has to die? There’s no other way to reverse this?”

He looked away, took a breath, and turned again to face me, “Perhaps…no, never mind, it is too dangerous.”

“How can it be more dangerous than dying? Tell me how to fix this!”

Misha looked away again. It seemed as if he was fighting to control himself. I thought I angered and embarrassed him. When he turned back, his face was like stone. “Very well, there is one way, but it involves the darkest of magic. Demonic possession and loss of limbs may occur.”

I just stared at him blankly, “Demonic po-possession?”

“Do you want to end this or not?” he snapped.

“Um, yes. Yes, I do. Tell me.”

“There are many steps, and it is rather complicated. Do you have a pen, and something to write on?”

I quickly reached in my purse and pulled out the items. “Go ahead, I’m ready.”

“The spell must be performed on the highest peak we can find, during the next full moon. Perhaps Mount Rainer or the Olympic Mountains will suffice. We will need to gather some herbs…wolfs bane, belladonna, nightshade…”

I was writing feverishly.

“…we will also need a piece of alabaster of the whitest stone you can find.”

“Alabaster, okay, I got it, what else?”

“Lastly, we will need two virgins…and a goat.”

I immediately stopped writing, slowly looking up at him.

He burst out laughing. In fact, he was laughing so hard he was shaking, tears streaking down his face from the force.

“You asshole!” I hissed.

It took a while, but finally, Misha calmed down. He wiped his eyes before he spoke. “I apologize, my love. But I could not help myself. Although I did not drink from you, I have been thinking about it.” He paused. “I actually have been unable to think of anything else.”

“Um,” I said again, since that’s how I rolled.

Sinful hunger replaced any trace of the man who first sat beside me. “You are delicious, my darling Celia,” he rasped. “I can still taste you on my tongue.”

I cleared my throat. I only wished I could also clear my mind of his naked image. “So, are you saying we’re not bonded?”

“Oh no, that’s not what I am saying. On the contrary, the marriage bond was started last night.” He laughed as he took in my expression. “However, it’s still not complete. Although according to our customs you have given me permission to continue, I choose not ingest your essence.”

“All right, good, but…why?” I asked, suddenly feeling a little insulted.

“Celia, I do not want someone, who clearly does not want me. You were willing to risk demonic possession and loss of your limbs in order to avoid marrying me.”

“Good point,” I admit. “What happens though, if―I don’t know―you come across some blood of mine and accidently lick it or something?”

“Are you planning to leave blood around for me to lick?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Okay, that’s a bad example, but you know what I mean. What happens if you change your mind someday and take a bite out of me? Would we then be married?” I asked, mostly hoping he’d tell me no.

“It would bring us one step closer to sealing the marriage bond, yes. However, it would not be finalized without a commitment ceremony.”

“So nothing has to come out of all this?”

“Not unless you want it, too,” he said, his lust-filled stare holding me in place.

Yeah. You might have said I was in trouble then.

Weird Girls, Book 1

Synopsis: Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they’re products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird… The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha’s family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy—or die a miserable death. Weird Girls, Book 5

Synopsis: The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.

Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?

Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey.

Review: We had gone through many emotional states in the previous volume. Oh yes because Cecy Robson really had not been kind to her characters and that is also why we suffered with them. I was therefore really curious about the events there, to see how the sisters would be able to evolve after all the changes in their lives. In addition, you must know that this is the last novel featuring Celia as a main character and we will turn now to the other sisters. I am also eager to see how the transition will be made.

Beginning the story, I admit that I was a bit lost in the first pages. I must say that from the first sentences, events keep coming before we really have the time to really understand what is happening. This is not really a problem but it’s true that I did not really expect that. Once past the surprise, we’re caught in the history, we also welcome back all our dear characters and we watch them facing the trials of the previous novel. No one will be spared by that matter! Indeed, Taran and Gimini have some serious problems in their relationship as the woman mismanages the loss of her arm and the consequences. This is something that really broke my heart because we don’t expect something to break them this way and we hope throughout the story that everything will work out very fast. But of course, we focus a little more on Celia and Aric as always. Ah, our two characters have to face a lot of things and when you think it’s over, it’s to start again thereafter. No respite ounce is granted and we perfectly feel it. Both in the moods’ changes and the strange attitudes, and even if we understand that something is wrong, we will actually have to wait for the end of the story to find out what really happens.

Aric is rather insisting on the fact that Celia has to give up her job to go back to work at the hospital, something that does not appeal her at all. Understandably, he hopes she will be safer, but we also understand her because this is not something very interesting in the end. Yet they will both end up looking for a stone of great power, each for a different faction and I was curious to see how it was going to end. Oh yes, because the author has many surprises about it. I also did not expect to appreciate that much this stone so intriguing and different.

As you can see, Cecy takes us once again into an insane pace! The sisters are evolving, changing and finally trying to find their place. Enemies that we do not expect appear and I was very curious to see how it would end. Relationships are formed, some break, some get stronger and I‘m anxious to see what will happen to them afterwards. So many things here, we’ll even get to see Misha and his girls, though it’s not a lot and I loved seeing them each time.

This is a series to discover and it now remains for me to wait and see for the sequel.

Guest Post

Why I Love My Vampires

Thank you so much for hosting me today. Vampires have been redone a thousand times over, from creepy, to uh-ma-gawd sexy. When I set to create the vampire coven in my Weird Girls series, I thought this would be my time to have fun. While Misha Aleksandr, my very suave, very sensual master vampire commands a room, demands respect, and is among the most revered supernaturals on earth, the vampires under his watch are the most inappropriate, laugh out loud, monstrously entertaining band of misfits the mystical world has ever known. The females closest to him dress like naughty Catholic schoolgirls because, hey, why not? And their personalities? Talk about self-centered and entitled. And yet as much as they can skewer hearts like chicken breasts with their claws, and say whatever they want, to whoever they want, it’s hard not to like them.

Below is one of my favorite scenes from A Curse Unbroken. It features Agnes Concepcíon (genius and diva in platform stilettos) as she gives Celia, Taran, Shayna, and Emme Wird an update on their mission to find Shah, a magical stone they must obtain before the bad guys reach it.

The radio crackled and Agnes’s voice blasted over the speaker. “Listen up, freaks. We have three potential spots where Shah might be. One’s a hotel on the east side of town close to the club we hit last night. A team is searching it now. One vamp’s been blown to bits, but it was kind of an accident so we think it’s a dead end. I’m with the team searching the underground lair beneath Dilip’s compound. We think Shah might be here, given how many have been eaten.”

Emme gasped. “Eaten?”

Agnes huffed. “Yeah. Can you believe it? So far we’ve lost two vamps and a rogue witch to something with tentacles—”

A shrill scream cut Agnes off.

“Make that three vamps,” she continued. “So if you see any tentacles when you get to your location, run like hell. I don’t know what this thing is, but damn, it’s hungry.”

None of us moved, but Taran had plenty to say. “That’s your advice to us? Run like hell?”

“Unless you prefer to be eaten,” Agnes sang.

Yeah. So not a fan of Agnes.

As you can see, warm and fuzzy are words not found in Agnes’s vocabulary. The thing is, sometimes you need an Agnes―or any one of the naughty Catholic schoolgirls. Why? Because as dark and dangerous as my “weird” world can be, it’s not without its humor. So if you haven’t already, check out my Weird Girls series, and see why everyone could use a naughty vampire in their lives.

A Curse Unbroken de Cecy Robson (VO)

Weird Girls, Tome 5

Blog tour: A Cursed Bloodline by Cecy Robson + Giveaway

Weird Girls, Book 4

Synopsis: The Weird Girls return in another edge-of-your-seat novel from Cecy Robson! Just when Celia thinks the supernatural world can’t turn deadlier, a new rival emerges, proving just how dangerous a power-hungry were can be.

Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves.

From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.

Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.

Review: Wow this book is really intense! Darker and harder than the previous ones, yet still oh so good! I was very excited to be able to immerse myself in the following novels about the Wird sisters and I got into the reading as soon as I could. However, I had to wait the weekend before starting it knowing that it would not take me long to finish it and that I would surely end it soon enough. And I am not mistaken on this point because once thrown into the story I could not stop until finishing it, although I went to bed very late because of that. The whole thing is really addictive! But I can tell you that once again Cecy Robson conquered me with her new novel.

Celia never has a moment for her and when she thinks everything is finally under control, it’s to start over again and completely changes everything in her life. But this time, the threat is important and Anara is not a being whom she can oppose. So when he threatens Aric, her sisters and all those she loves, Celia has no choice but to obey and act as she must, whatever the consequences. The former asks her to cut short any relationship with Aric, but also to break the bond they had formed together, so she leaves him behind without telling anyone. I was so heartbroken for the young woman. She wants to live quietly especially now that she learns she is pregnant, but it seems that fate is against her. Although we hope that she will manage to find a solution in regard to Anara, but nothing is simple, and I was curious to see how our heroine would escape all that.

Anara is a character who has an unimaginable power and his actions manage to put Celia against almost everyone, even her sisters. The young woman finds herself more alone than ever except of course of Misha as he is always there for her. It is quite touching to see that he tries to create something with her and even though sometimes we would actually like to see something between them, we also know that the heart of the young woman lives with Aric. But I confess that I enjoyed the conversation the young woman has with the vampire (but I’ll let you discover it). Unfortunately, nobody really understands Celia because none of the characters really takes the time to think about her, the reason behind her actions and what she has to endure. But apart from Misha, Danny is also here for the young woman, assisting her as best as he can, though it put him in more than compromising and dangerous situations.

So yes, a lot of things are going on here. Celia will have to go through a large number of events, some more difficult than others. But that’s not just that because all the characters will have to manage their own problems, and I can tell you that you will be surprised more than once with their stories. Oh yes because Cecy Robson booked us many surprises, many doubts, stress about the events but all this, is wonderfully well done.

I will not say more because it is very hard not to tell you everything that is happening here. But this volume is dark, sad, and ultimately full of revelations as well. It shows us the barriers that two souls have to face to be together, for a happy ending or not. I can only advise you to start this series if it is not done already, it’s one of my favorites. You will be completely blown away by the story, the characters and the pace without being able to stop reading it. And I can tell you now that I am again very excited to be able to read more!

A Cursed Bloodline de Cecy Robson (VO)

Weird  Girld, Tome 4

A Curse Awakened by Cecy Robson + Giveaway/concours

Weird Girls, Book 0.4

Synopsis: Celia Wird shouldn’t possess the ability to transform into a tigress. Her three sisters should never be able to burst into flames, heal wounds, or transform common objects into deadly weapons. And yet they do.

Before they were born, the Wird Sisters were cursed by a spell that was intended to destroy them, not endow them with extraordinary powers. The sisters’ magic is untamed and explosive at best, and time is running out for them to take command.

Vampires have targeted Celia’s sweet, tragically human ex-boyfriend Danny. The sisters rush to his aid, but in order to take down the vamps, first they must face their dark past and break a spell that’s screwing up their powers. Except this curse wasn’t meant to be broken . . . and the witch who cast it isn’t done toying with them yet.

Review: Cecy Robson presents an entirely new story in the Weird Girls world in the form of a novella, a prequel, placing itself before all the volumes released. Oh yes, because here we find our dear sisters when they’re moving on which allows us to learn more about their origins and past.

In very few pages the author presents a large number of things. The sisters settle, trying somehow to control their unpredictable powers. And when Danny, a former friend of Celia asks for their help to save his father from vampires, the young woman and her sisters do not hesitate to get into action. But to achieve their goals, the young women will have to investigate their past and the curse that strikes them to try to limit the effects … something that could be much more complicated than expected.

I loved this little story. In fact, I always find it very interesting to discover more about our heroines and the author presents some revelations which I did not expect about. New enemies are introduced here and it’s true that I’m curious to see if we’ll see them later, but I do not doubt about that. This novel is a very good start and I think fans of the series will be more than happy!

Weird Girls, Book 3

Synopsis: Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they’re products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird……

Celia’s a girl in trouble.  Her heart is bound to Aric, but he is a pureblood were who must deny her or risk condemning his species to extinction.  And that’s just her love life. She’s also been called to take down a group of demon terrorists looking to overthrow the paranormal world. (No pressure.)

In order to bring them down, Celia must ally herself to Misha, the master vampire who has made no secret of his desire for her. And if that weren’t enough misfortune for one girl, a clairvoyant’s prediction could destroy Celia and Aric’s love for good. The only way to protect the world from unbridled supernatural terrorism is for Celia to bind herself to her destined mate. And that doesn’t appear to be Aric….
