Sookie Stackhouse, Book 12
Synopsis: With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard — especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.
Review: It’s funny how quickly I forget the bad news … and yes I did not remember that this book was the penultimate of the series. Already … It happened so fast after all. Charlaine Harris’s books are always a delight to read and we found this time all the characters we have discovered throughout the saga. Okay maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but we have many of the characters, and all are in an important period of their lives.
In this twelfth volume, Felipe de Castro is back to understand what could have happened to Victor. And of course, everyone’s lives are turner upside down by what might now happen. But when at the appointment, a young girl is found dead on the doorstep, everything goes wrong and an investigation is up to determine the culprit. With all this, we can also add the faes. Niall is back and takes Claude with him to investigate in Faerie about an unfortunate event. Finally, as you can see, we have two stories mixed in this volume.
Although I enjoyed this novel, something bothered me a bit… We can read the story quite easily but in the end it is true that nothing really happen. Instead, I felt like reading a really complete novella. It’s really nice but I do not know if we have really progressed in the plot.
Something , however, really upset me and it’s the direction in which the relationship of Sookie and Eric is going on… aaaah but it’s really a bad bad bad thing!! I think our heroine doesn’t impose her choice and at the same time it really hurts to see her like that.
As I said we can read the novel pretty fast and in any case it’s really nice to see how the world is changing and “growing” between babies, marriage and more. I was glad to have the appearance of Alcide and Quinn, they are characters that I really like and it’s a pleasure to have some news.
However, I did not expect at all such a purpose. It was a big surprise and we discover the true personality of a character in the series. I did not think either that the story about the fae would end this way and I’m a little sad about the way things went.
So it was a good novel and I’m curious now to read the last one. But I think I’ll stop here after all the reviews I had read.

Awh, sorry you don’t like the direction the relationship was going In this. I haven’t read any of the Sookie Stackhouse books yet- though I’ve heard tons about them, but at least it was pretty fast, right? 🙂

I was so disappointed by this. After so many novels of being invested in Sookie and Eric, his behavior really seemed senseless to me. I never did read the last book, and I never will. But I adore those first nine and ten, simply adore them.

LOL I’ve only read book 1! But I’m always glad to see series that evolve over time, even the events are not always for the better. When you’re up to this many books in a series, I’d rather see change. It’s more realistic but it also keeps things interesting.

I KNOW! Watching Sookie and Eric move further and further away from the place I wanted them to be was awful. Once, when I was 20(ish), I was riding shotgun with one of my friends to a movie, and he was changing lanes, but didn’t see a car moving into that same lane from the other side . . . but I did. There was not one thing I could do to keep him from plowing into the side of that other car. That’s kind of what reading about Eric and Sookie felt like. 🙁
