Synopsis: Why did you do that to me Mummy, don’t you love me?

Kath lives with her husband Adam and daughter Lyla in a desolate stone longhouse deep in Dartmoor National Park. She likes her life the moors are beautiful, if bleak and she counts herself as happy, even if they struggle with money, and work, and her daughter’s shyness.

But one day Kath wakes up from a coma, with a vague memory of a near-fatal car accident. She hugs her daughter close, likewise her husband Adam. But there’s something wrong. Adam seems furious with her and Lyla is acting evermore strangely. They should be delighted to see her alive, snatched from certain death. But they won’t meet her gaze

Then Kath learns that the car crash wasn’t an accident, and her whole life collapses into a world of panic, and danger

Review: This is an intriguing synopsis and I must admit that I was curious to discover the story!

Kath was in an accident, her car fell into the water and she barely survived death. However, she can’t remember the latest events, and her head injury was almost fatal. But here it is, since her return, things are not normal, she feels that something is not right. Everyone hides things from her… But why is that? Strange and morbid things are happening not far from home and Kath and her husband also have to manage Lyla, their beautiful little girl whom they assume to be autistic. Kath is determined to understand what happened, who is watching her and why. Is it her husband? What exactly happened that day?

I loved following this novel and was eager to find out what was going to happen and what had happened to our dearest Kath. Things are not simple and like her, we doubt everyone, we try to understand and yet we do not expect such a revelation. I also really appreciated this approach to autism with Lyla, to see how difficult it could be for this little girl to feel special, to see how helpless her parents could sometimes be.

Yes, it was a very interesting thriller that completely took me away, and I’m glad I discovered this novel!

Would be scary not being able to remember everything and knowing something was not right. Goodness.
