P.S. from Paris by Marc Levy

Synopsis: From Marc Levy, the most-read French author alive today, comes a modern-day love story between a famous actress hiding in Paris and a bestselling writer lying to himself. They knew their friendship was going to be complicated, but love—and the City of Lights—just might find a way.

On the big screen, Mia plays a woman in love. But in real life, she’s an actress in need of a break from her real-life philandering husband—the megastar who plays her romantic interest in the movies. So she heads across the English Channel to hide in Paris behind a new haircut, fake eyeglasses, and a waitressing job at her best friend’s restaurant.

Paul is an American author hoping to recapture the fame of his first novel. When his best friend surreptitiously sets him up with Mia through a dating website, Paul and Mia’s relationship status is “complicated.”

Even though everything about Paris seems to be nudging them together, the two lonely ex-pats resist, concocting increasingly far-fetched strategies to stay “just friends.” A feat easier said than done, as fate has other plans in store. Is true love waiting for them in a postscript?

Review: It’s been a long time since I’ve read one Marc Levy’s novel, but it’s an author that I particularly like and I was happy to immerse myself in this new story.

I had a good time with this book. I find that the French synopsis perfectly describes the story of the novel, from beginning to end. Mia is a famous actress in England and when she realizes that her husband is cheating on her and is avoiding her, she can not take it any more and goes to France to put a little bit of order in her mind. Incognito, she will discover Paris, spend time with her best friend helping her in her restaurant and she will think, think about her life and what she wants to do. In parallel, we also follow Paul, a little-known writer who lives in a very lonely way and who thinks he has a relationship with his Korean translator that he sees only 2 weeks a year. The two characters meet in the funniest way and try to become friends, although Mia hides a vital aspect of her life. But this strange relationship will push them to face their problems and to decide what they want to do.

I found that it was once again a very good novel and I liked to discover this story that takes us into the lives of two characters that everything opposes but who will help each other to move forward. I found they were very touching in their way. It was a touching read and I am always curious to read more about the author!
