The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy, Book 2

Synopsis: Life was simpler for Grier when she was flat broke and a social pariah. Now she’s carrying the baggage that goes along with the title of Dame Woolworth, and shouldering that weight is giving her a serious crick in the neck. Her work as a Haint is the one thing that makes her feel normal, but even that’s more paranormal than usual.

Spirits are vanishing from well-known hot spots on the ghost tour circuit, and vampires are turning up as shriveled husks. When Grier stumbles across the menace preying on Savannah’s supernatural community, what she uncovers is bigger than a few flickering lampposts gone dark. It’s a deadly threat unleashed by one of their own, and the cost of saving her city might be her life.

Review: I was very curious to start this second volume, since I loved the first one and I must say that I had another great time! In fact, to tell you the truth, I’ve already bought the sequel and I can’t wait to discover it!

Grier has to get used to her new role and it’s really not easy. In addition to that, she also has to manage her private lessons with Linus without really knowing if she can trust him. Yet he seems so sweet and pleasant. But is there something behind this? And then there’s Boaz… Ah Boaz, it’s hard to resist you and at the same time, it’s so easy to understand Grier and her mistrust of this possible relationship. And then there are other problems… those of the city, those that seem to show that ghosts disappear and when it’s the vampires’ turn, things get worse.

I really had a great time with this novel again and I loved learning more about all the characters. The turnaround at the end was a real surprise for me, I have to say it and I’m really curious to see what happens next for all our characters! As I said, it was another great discovery!

I really enjoyed this whole series. I’ve read (listened) to all 6 now. I think the next one #3 was my favorite, anyway I reviewed them all on Goodreads. Grier has trust issues for VERY good reasons; someone is always letting her down it seems.
