Vicious Circle by Linda Robertson

Persephone Alcmedi, Book 1

Synopsis: Being a witch doesn’t pay the bills, but Persephone Alcmedi gets by reading Tarot cards, writing a syndicated newspaper column and kenneling wærewolves in the basement during full moons.

Everything changes when one of Seph’s friends is murdered.

The high priestess of the local coven offers Seph an unbelievable sum to hunt down the killer, and Seph enlists the help of her wærewolf friends–including Johnny, the hunky 6’2″ leather-clad singer for the techno-metal-goth band Lycanthropia.

The attraction between them is dangerous, but nothing could be as lethal as the showdown that awaits them.

Review: I’ve had this book for years, ever since it came out. I’m trying to get old novels out of my TBR pile and I was really looking forward to an urban fantasy about witches so I jumped in with pleasure in this one.

Persephone lives a secret life and tries to help as much as she can the werewolves that are being bullied in today’s society. When the local coven witch shows up at her house to hire her, she can’t refuse, especially since it’s to avenge a friend of hers who died. Unfortunately, she didn’t expect to have to face a powerful vampire!

Teaming up with a few werewolves, including the sexy Johny, she’ll try anything to bring justice to the woman who was her friend. But this story is much more complicated than expected and as Persephone discovers the truth, she may well realize that she has been kept from many secrets.

This was a fun novel. There are some long stretches at times, but I still had a good time and I’m quite curious to read volume 2. Alas, I saw that the series has been abandoned… Too bad.
