Review: I enjoyed all the short volumes of this series and I was curious to discover the history of the last brother. Unlike the others, Carter is a widower raising two little girls. This is a very difficult job for a man who is not accustomed to this and who expected to raise his children with the woman of his life before fate took her. This is why, he still lives with her mind at his side. His life will change completely when, during some holidays, he meets with Tess, his pretty neighbor who also seems very attracted to him.

It was interesting to see a father here and it’s true that this is what immediately drew me in the summary. We do not often have the opportunity to have parents and I found it intriguing to see what the author had in store for us. I loved seeing the relationship existing between parents and children, as well as the difficulty to want to reform something with another person. By cons, it is true that ultimately the intimate relationship took too much precedence over the story and I was expecting maybe a little more than that. Then, it’s true that these are short stories so it’s always a bit tricky to add a lot in them. In all cases, I had a good time with our two characters.

Tess Adams apprécie d’avoir échappé à New York et à son petit ami qui l’a trompée, et de vivre dans une ville tranquille du Texas. Mais quand un père de jumelles célibataire se déplace et s’installe dans le chalet de l’autre côté, Tess se sent tout sauf paisible. Plus elle en arrive à connaître le oh-très-sexy Carter Christensen, plus Tess commence à penser qu’elle devrait renoncer à sa vie tranquille et sécuritaire, et s’adonner à la passion.

Avis : J’ai bien aimé tous les tomes courts de cette série et j’étais curieuse de découvrir l’histoire du dernier frère. A l’inverse des autres, Carter est un homme veuf qui élève à présent deux jeunes petites jumelles. C’est un travail très difficile pour un homme qui n’a pas l’habitude de cela et qui s’attendait à élever ses enfants avec la femme de sa vie avant que le destin ne la lui arrache. C’est d’ailleurs pourquoi, il vit toujours avec son esprit à ses côtés. Sa vie va complètement changer quand, lors de vacances, il rencontre Tess, sa jolie voisine qui semble d’ailleurs elle aussi très attirée par lui.

C’était intéressant de suivre un père de famille et c’est vrai que c’est ce qui m’a tout de suite attirée dans le résumé. Nous n’avons pas souvent l’occasion d’en côtoyer et je trouvais intrigant de voir ce que l’auteur avait en réserve pour nous. J’ai beaucoup aimé voir la relation qu’il y avait entre ce parent et ses enfants, de même que la difficulté qu’il a à vouloir reformer quelque chose avec une autre personne. Par contre c’est vrai que finalement la relation intime prend un peu trop le pas sur l’histoire et j’en attendais peut-être un peu plus. Après c’est vrai que ce sont des histoires courtes donc c’est toujours un peu délicat de rajouter beaucoup de choses. Dans tous les cas, on passe un bon moment avec nos deux personnages.

Review: And here it is the third novella about the last brother, Luke. I was quite curious to discover his own story after enjoying the two others.

Luke returns home in need of rest. Besides, him being at home means finding Ryder and Lara again. I was very happy to see the characters of the first volume even if they only have a few appearances. Yes, because the story is really about Luke and Kayleigh, the girl he left eight years ago to pursue a career in music. Yet as soon as he sees her, he knows that nothing is forgotten and he is determined to make her flinch at all costs.

I was so heartbroken for Kayleigh … She deeply loves Luke, but he hurt her more than possible. Moreover we want to shake him a few times so he can really realize the consequences of his actions. It’s difficult for the young woman not to succumb again, yet she also knows that she will not manage a new break.

It was a touching story and it’s true that we understand the distrust of the young woman, as well as her hopes. Can she really trust him? This is something that we wonder throughout the pages. But in any case, once again, Mandy Baxter presents a good romance and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to discover these three brothers.

Avis : Et voilà la troisième nouvelle pour le dernier frère, Luke. J’étais assez curieuse de découvrir sa propre histoire après avoir beaucoup apprécié celle des deux autres.

Luke rentre chez lui dans un besoin de repos. D’ailleurs rentrer chez lui signifie retrouver Ryder et Lara. J’étais très contente de retrouver les personnages du premier tome même s’ils ne font que quelques petites apparitions. Oui, parce que l’histoire se porte en fait sur Luke et Kayleigh, la fille qu’il a abandonné 8 ans auparavant pour poursuivre sa carrière dans la musique. Pourtant dès qu’il la revoit, il sait que rien n’est oublié et il est bien décidé à la faire flancher coûte que coûte.

J’ai eu très mal au cœur pour Kayleigh… Elle aime profondément Luke, mais ce dernier l’a blessée plus que possible. On a d’ailleurs envie de le secouer plusieurs fois pour qu’il se rende vraiment compte des conséquences de ses actes. La jeune femme a beaucoup de mal à ne pas succomber une fois de plus, pourtant elle sait aussi qu’elle ne tiendra pas à un nouveau départ.

C’était une histoire touchante et c’est vrai qu’on comprend parfaitement la méfiance de la jeune femme, mais aussi ses espoirs. Peut-elle vraiment lui faire confiance ? C’est quelque chose que l’on se demande tout au long des pages. Mais en tout cas, encore une fois, Mandy Baxter nous présente une bonne romance et je suis très contente d’avoir eu l’occasion de découvrir ces trois frères.

Review: What a pleasure to read the second novel of this short stories series. After discovering Riker in the first volume, we turn here to his brother, Jase. This boy looks like his brother in many ways, marked by life, trying to prove he has talent and does not have money at heart despite his lifestyle. He is a very talented football player who only goes up.

So we discover this man at a party in his honor and it is during this same evening as his eyes land on Avery, a rather clumsy waitress. But while she intrigues him, our hero will try to see if he can ask her out for a date and to his surprise, a man who is used to having everything he wants (as his brother elsewhere), the young woman refuses. A new challenge is launched. But as their relationship progresses, how to know how it will end for these two different souls?

I really enjoyed once again this novel. This new couple featured here is very touching and we understand why they have both doubts. Avery is a sweet young woman who does not really trust him and it’s true that it hurts my heart to see the states in which she is found, but it’s nice and touching to see them both happy. Both tries to become what they want and their history is just beginning.

I can only advise you to read these stories if you’re a fan of contemporary romances, a great time.

Mais quand leur rencontre torride aide Jase à jouer mieux que jamais auparavant, il doit se demander si cette femme excitante est plus qu’un charme de bonne chance … Avery Lockhart ne comprend pas pourquoi un joueur pro de football voudrait sortir avec elle. Incroyablement riche et indéniablement sexy, Jase Blackwell est tout ce qu’elle pense qu’elle n’est pas. Se rapprocher un peu plus de ce milliardaire énigmatique, se révèle cependant trop pour qu’Avery résiste. Mais comme leur passion se réchauffe, il en va de même pour le jeu de Jase, et bientôt, les rumeurs commencent à voler. Avery est-elle seulement gardée pour maintenir le bon jeu de Jase? Ou, leur connexion est-elle plus profonde …?

Avis : Quel plaisir de retrouver le deuxième tome de cette série d’histoires courtes. Après avoir découvert Riker dans le premier tome,  nous nous tournons ici vers son frère : Jase. Ce garçon ressemble à son frère en beaucoup de points, marqué par la vie, essayant de prouver qu’il a du talent et surtout n’ayant pas l’argent à cœur en premier lieu malgré son style de vie. C’est un joueur de football très doué qui ne fait que monter.

On découvre donc cet homme lors d’une soirée en son honneur et c’est dans cette même soirée que ses yeux se posent sur Avery, une serveuse assez maladroite. Mais alors qu’elle l’intrigue, notre héros va essayer de voir s’il peut l’inviter à sortir et à sa grande surprise, pour un homme qui est habitué à avoir tout ce qu’il veut (comme son frère d’ailleurs), la jeune femme refuse. Un nouveau challenge est lancé. Mais alors que leur relation progresse, comment savoir comment le tout va se terminer pour ces deux âmes différentes.

J’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir comme je le disais une fois encore avec ce roman. Ce nouveau couple mis en scène est touchant et on comprend les doutes qu’ils ont tous les deux. Avery est une jeune femme douce, qui n’a pas vraiment confiance en elle et c’est vrai que ça fait mal au cœur de voir les états dans lesquels elle se retrouve mais les voir heureux tous les deux est aussi touchant. Les deux essaient de devenir ce qu’ils désirent et leur histoire ne fait que commencer.

Je ne peux que vous conseiller ces petites histoires si vous êtes fan de romances contemporaines, on passe à chaque fois un très bon moment.

Review: Amanda Bonilla/Mandy Baxter presents us here a new series, a cowboy romance. It’s been a while since I’ve read a story like this one but it was very nice to fall back into the genre. The format is pretty short, but it is also something that is interesting because it allows us to read the book between two novels and quite fast.

Ryder Blackwell owns a ranch and became a billionaire in years. He always gets what he wants, remains a highly coveted man and does not hesitate to control everything and everyone around him. Yet a person will resist him … Lara. He tries to invite this woman to a date since he met her but the latter refused each time. Stung, he will do everything to get her to come to the ranch and for that he buys the horse she wanted more than anything as it seems like the only solution. But by playing with fire, he may well be burned too. But whatever happens, Lara is determined to stay away from him!

I enjoyed getting to know these two characters. Lara is a young woman who is determined in her choices, and has nothing to do with Ryder’s money as she only wants to make a name in her city. She has not had an easy life and it is true that it is very easy to understand her desires, even if nothing is simple. We understand why she tries to stay away from Ryder and yet it’s true that it’s a shame. As for Ryder, he had a complicated life as well and we discover more about that in the story. He is a man who is used to getting everything he wants, and for once, this one resists him, making her even more irresistible. The tension and chemistry between the two is really explosive and it’s true that their relationship is full of sparks. It was really nice to see them together.

Before revealing all, I’ll stop there. I’ll just say that it was a great find and I’m curious about the next book in the series to see who will be featured this time.
