Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues. She’s nearly convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Review: We’re back here with Liz and Sam for the rest of their story after Something Wild. I was really looking forward to seeing the continuity of their relationship. But then, after a certain event, the two lovebirds went their way to never speak again. Everyone is miserable, but Liz finally thinks she is reunited with him. Indeed, she converses on the internet with riverrat69, a man with a raw language and she thinks that this person is his former lover. Hoping to find him, she exchanges with him her hot fantasies. Parallel to this, she comes to work for the campaign for Sam’s father, a work that pleases her enormously. But by staying here, she has to see Connor on a daily basis, as well as Sam or even Della with whom her relations have become more complicated.

We wonder from the beginning of the story what had happened so that Della had such feelings towards Liz while they were best friends of the world and I confess that I waited impatiently for the revelation. It’s sad to see that ultimately many things have gone wrong in this way … But the attraction between the two characters is electric and once again the circumstances will gather Liz and Sam together. Alas, once again nothing will be simple and new problems arise while Liz still tries to determine if Sam and Riverrat69 are the same person.

I was very touched by the story to the point that I felt my tears a few times. It’s sad and annoying to see that two persons who are so well together do not manage to have their happy ending. It was in any case a very addictive volume and I am now very impatient to be able to read the sequel and to discover the end of their story!

Reckless & Real, Tome 1

Résumé : Tout révéler et risquer de le perdre ? Liz, célibataire de 24 ans, rencontre sur un site online – qui préserve l’anonymat –, un certain Riverrat69 et entretient avec lui une relation coquine. Mais ne serait-ce pas Sam, son ex-boyfriend qui se cache derrière ce pseudo, et semble si bien la connaître ? Un romans sexy et épicé qui raconte l’histoire d’amour contrariée de Liz et Sam, son ex-boyfriend, qu’elle fuit mais dont elle est toujours amoureuse. Une passion que tout le monde dans la ville s’emploie à briser.

Avis : Nous revoilà avec  Liz et Sam pour la suite de leur histoire après Something Wild. J’étais vraiment impatiente de voir quel serait la continuité de leur relation. Mais voilà, après un certain évènement, les deux tourtereaux se sont séparés pour ne plus jamais s’adresser la parole. Chacun misérable de son côté, Liz pense finalement avoir renoué avec lui. En effet, elle converse sur internet avec riverrat69, un homme au langage cru et qu’elle pense être son ancien amant. Espérant le retrouver, elle échange avec lui ses fantasmes torrides. En parallèle de cela, elle vient travailler pour la campagne du père de Sam, un job qui lui plait énormément. Mais rester ici, signifie aussi côtoyer Connor au quotidien, de même que Sam ou même Della avec qui les relations sont devenues plus que compliquées.

On se demande dès le début de l’histoire ce qui a bien pu se passer pour que Della ait de tels sentiments envers Liz alors qu’elles étaient les meilleures amies du monde et j’avoue que j’attendais avec impatience la révélation. C’est assez triste de voir que finalement beaucoup de choses sont allées de travers de cette façon… Mais l’attraction entre nos deux personnages est électrique et une fois de plus les circonstances vont rassembler Liz et Sam. Hélas, une fois de plus rien ne sera simple et de nouveaux problèmes vont faire face alors que Liz essaye toujours de déterminer si Sam et riverrat69 sont les mêmes personnes.

J’ai été très touchée par l’histoire jusqu’à verser ma petite larme à certains moments. C’est triste et rageant de voir que deux personnes qui sont si bien ensembles n’arrivent pas à avoir leur happy ending. C’était en tout cas un tome très prenant et je suis maintenant très impatiente de pouvoir lire la suite et découvrir la fin de leur histoire !

Synopsis: “You need a good guy. A long-term guy. One who does dates and romance and emotional strings…I’m just an asshole who wants to tie you up, make you come, and walk away.”

Samuel Bradshaw is a man with a reputation—the kind of reputation that should have me running the other way. Instead, it has me searching for the shortest distance to his bed. I won’t be the starry-eyed girl who thinks she can change a man like Sam, and despite what he thinks, forever is not what I need. I need the things he makes me feel, the way he turns me on, and the promise of pleasure in his eyes. I need SOMETHING WILD.

Review: There are different kinds of prequels but here we find something that defines this word well. I haven’t read a lot written in this way, presenting an introduction to the characters, part of their past which will lead to the first volume that eventually will continue what we discovered about them. I think it’s really what I call a prequel and it is nice to be able to discover this short story. I warn you right away by cons, if you do not have the first volume handy you are going to be very sad!

So we discover Sam and Liz, their feelings and missed stories although we understand that they really have something together. I do not really want to say more about it as it’s quite fast to read the novel but it was nice to learn to discover the characters and it is true that I was very glad to be able to immerse myself in Something Dangerous to discover what happens to them thereafter. We are taken in their games even if we suspect that nothing will be very simple.

A good start!

Résumé : Résister à la tentation pour ne pas se perdre (soi-même) ? « Ce qu’il te faut, c’est un type bien. Un type stable, qui reste. Un type romantique qui sorte avec toi et qui noue des liens sentimentaux…moi, je ne suis qu’un sale con qui a juste envie de t’attacher, de te faire jouir puis de disparaitre. » Samuel Bradshaw est un homme qui a une réputation – le genre de réputation qui devrait me faire fuir. Paradoxalement, c’est ce qui me pousse à trouver le plus court chemin qui mène à son lit. Je refuse d’être la fille naïve qui croit qu’elle peut changer un homme comme Sam, et en dépit de ce qu’il pense, je ne recherche pas l’amour éternel. Ce que je recherche c’est ce qui me fait vibrer, c’est la façon dont il m’excite, et les sommets de plaisir que promet son regard. Je recherche quelque chose d’extrême.

Avis : Il existe différent type de préquels mais on retrouve ici quelque chose qui définit bien ce mot. Je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de lire de tels formats, présentant une introduction des personnages, une partie de leur passé qui amènera au premier tome qui finalement continuera ce que l’on a découvert d’eux. Je trouve que c’est finalement vraiment ça un préquel et c’était agréable de pouvoir découvrir cette histoire courte. Je vous préviens tout de suite par contre, si vous n’avez pas le premier tome à portée de main vous allez être bien triste !

Nous découvrons ainsi Sam et Liz, leurs sentiments et des histoires ratées bien que l’on comprenne qu’ils ont vraiment quelque chose ensemble. Je ne veux pas vraiment en dire plus donc ce sera rapide mais c’était agréable d’apprendre à les découvrir et c’est vrai que je suis très contente de pouvoir me plonger dans Something Dangerous pour découvrir ce qu’il advient d’eux à présent. On se prend à leur jeu même si on se doute que rien ne sera très simple.
