Will Trent, Book 9

Synopsis: A mysterious kidnapping

On a hot summer night, a scientist from the Centers for Disease Control is grabbed by unknown assailants in a shopping center parking lot. Vanished into thin air, the authorities are desperate to save the doctor.

A devastating explosion

One month later, the serenity of a sunny Sunday afternoon is shattered by the boom of a ground-shaking blast—followed by another seconds later. One of Atlanta’s busiest and most important neighborhood’s has been bombed—the location of Emory University, two major hospitals, the FBI headquarters, and the CDC.

A diabolical enemy

Medical examiner Sara Linton and her partner Will Trent, an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, rush to the scene—and into the heart of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to destroy thousands of innocent lives. When the assailants abduct Sara, Will goes undercover to save her and prevent a massacre—putting his own life on the line for the woman and the country he loves.

Review: When I took this novel, I didn’t realize it was part of a series and that it was a volume 9. If I had a good time with the story, I think it’s better to read the previous novels to have all the cards in hand.

A woman has been kidnapped in front of her daughter and after a month without any news, Sara and Will are going to meet her and the group that holds her during an attack. But then, while Sara is kidnapped, Will is beaten up and left behind. The latter, determined to find her companion, will make every effort to find out where she is. She will be taken to a kind of sect where several people are sick and she will have to do what she can to keep them alive. Yet this place could hide many secrets.

I liked to follow all these characters alternately to see what they were doing in parallel and to see how our heroes were evolving each in their own way.

It was a rather different, dark novel and where the terrorist attacks are at the heart of the story. I’m quite curious to go back and read the first volume now.

Oh yes, you need to read this from the beginning. It’s one of my favorite series ever. I would actually start with the Grant County series and then read the Will Trent one. I only discovered this author last year but she’s an absolute favorite now.

I’ve loved the audio wit Kathleen Early too.

I’ve not read her but I think I have one of hers to listen to. Now I wonder if it’s part of this series. I’m like you, I would rather start with book one. This does sound good though.

What a coincidence, I’ve literally just come off the telephone from speaking to my mam who is reading this very book. Though she has read the previous books in the series, she has yet to finish this one but is struggling. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Oh that’s too bad but it’s still funny that she is reading this one too

I’m definitely going to have to give this one a try. When I see shows on tv that sound like this, I always watch them. This sounds really good.
