As the pack Beta, Dante doesn’t have the space or time in his life for a relationship. As such, he ignores his intense hunger for the willful – and sometimes crazy – Jaime. Yet when her flirtations abruptly end, Dante finds that he doesn’t like losing her attention. He finds something else too – Jaime’s hiding something. Determined to uncover her secret, he sets out to break through her defenses, even though being around her intensifies his cravings for her. What he finds is a problem that Jaime is convinced not even a powerful Beta can solve.

Review: I was curious about this second volume after a good first novel. This time, while we followed Trey and Taryn in the previous book, we rediscover now their Beta Dante and a young woman he knows from his childhood: Jaime. Of course, as they’re both part of the Trey’s pack, we will have the opportunity to see our first two heroes too and all the characters we know.

Dante has always been attracted to Jaime, but when she tries to create a relationship with him, it all seems impossible. I must say that the beta does not want a relationship with anyone as he thinks she will become an obstacle to his work because he loves it more than anything. So he did everything possible to reject the young woman who takes it pretty bad I must say. And while for a change of pace, she tries to start a relationship with a human, Dante reveals another side of himself, a jealousy she never suspected. They do not expect it, but they’ll create a very strong bond between them and an intense relationship will appear between the two characters. Yet neither wants to find her soul mate, and this story could then arrange them both. Problem? Jaime has a secret she hopes never to reveal and Dante, who loves to control everything, is determined to understand what is happening at all costs. But in addition to this, we also follow the Glory’s story, a young pretty disturbed woman, who doesn’t take well the fact that she was dumped by the beautiful beta and she is determined to make him pay by the worst ways. And for that, she is very imaginative!

I loved following this novel, I found that the raw language, in the first book, was down a notch, though still present. I was really curious to find out what Jaime was hiding and even if we know it soon enough, she is afraid about the reaction of those around her. She really didn’t have an easy life and we discover the details here, little by little during the novel. She is broken but she will regain confidence over the chapters for our greatest pleasure. Of course, she is not the only and while Dante has a strong attitude in all circumstances, we discover that he has more faults than we would have thought and that led him to be a controlling man. Our two heroes form a nice duo, confronting each other for any event and it was really fun to attend their arguments. We also have all the characters of the first volume and of course Trey and Taryn are here; and well Taryn is pregnant which changes the attitudes of all the persons around her. And I must say that whatever happens does not change her nature! Did I forget to mention Greta? Because she doesn’t change either, that’s for sure and everyone earns her mean comments, especially Jaime who defends herself as much as she can.

Finally, as you can see, I had a good time with this novel. We can read it rather quickly and I am curious to find out who the next novel will feature but I hope it will Shaya and Nick because I love the the young woman and we greatly sympathize with her in this volume.

Jaime Farrow a toujours eu le béguin pour Dante. Mais lorsque leur clan a été divisé, ils se sont perdus de vue. Désormais adultes, et réunis dans la meute du Phénix, leur retrouvailles auraient pu être torrides. Sauf que le Beta n’a de place dans sa vie que pour son travail et que Jaime est tourmentée par un lourd secret. Mais si ce qu’elle cache met les siens en danger, Dante doit le découvrir même si pour cela il doit se soumettre à la tentation.

Avis : J’étais curieuse de découvrir ce second tome après avoir passé un bon moment avec le premier. Cette fois, alors que nous avions pu suivre Trey et Taryn dans le roman précédent, on redécouvre son Béta Dante et une jeune femme qu’il connait depuis son enfance : Jaime. Bien sûr, les deux faisant partie intégrante de la meute de Trey, on aura l’occasion de voir souvent nos deux premiers héros et tous les personnages que nous connaissons.

Dante a toujours été attiré par Jaime, mais alors qu’elle essaie de créer une relation avec lui, tout cela semble impossible. Il faut dire que le béta ne veut pas d’une relation qu’il pense deviendra un obstacle à son travail qu’il aime plus que tout. Il fait donc tout son possible pour rejeter la jeune femme qui le prend assez mal il faut le dire. Et alors que pour se changer les idées, elle essaie d’entamer une relation avec un humain, voilà que Dante révèle une autre facette de lui-même, une jalousie qu’elle n’aurait jamais suspecté. Ils ne s’y attendaient pas, mais un lien très fort va se créer entre eux et une relation intense va apparaitre entre nos deux personnages. Pourtant aucun des deux ne veut trouver son âme sœur, et cette histoire pourrait alors les arranger tous les deux. Problème ? Jaime cache un secret qu’elle espère ne jamais révéler et Dante, avide de contrôle est bien décidé à comprendre ce qu’il se passe coûte que coûte. Mais en plus de cela, nous suivrons aussi l’histoire de Glory, une jeune femme assez dérangée, qui a pris très mal de fait d’avoir été larguée par le beau béta et qui est bien décidée à lui faire payer de la pire des manières. Et pour cela, elle est très imaginative !

J’ai beaucoup aimé suivre ce roman, j’ai trouvé que le langage cru était descendu d’un cran, même si toujours présent. J’étais vraiment curieuse de découvrir ce que Jaime cachait et même si on le sait assez vite, on a peur pour elle de la réaction de ceux qui l’entourent. Elle n’a vraiment pas eu une vie facile et on en découvre les détails ici, petit à petit au cours du roman. Elle est brisée mais elle va arriver à reprendre confiance en elle au cours des chapitres pour notre plus grand plaisir. Bien sûr, elle n’est pas la seule et alors que Dante présente une attitude forte en toutes circonstances, on découvrira qu’il a plus de failles que l’on aurait pu le croire ce qui a conduit à le faire devenir un homme contrôlant. Nos deux héros formeront alors un très beau duo, se confrontant pour tout événement et c’était un régal d’assister à leurs arguments. On retrouve aussi tous les personnages du premier tome et bien sur Taryn et Trey avec la jeune femme sous le point d’accoucher. Et il faut dire que quoi qu’il se passe son caractère ne change pas ! Aurais-je oublié de mentionner Greta ? Car elle non plus ne change pas et elle fera profiter tout le monde de son caractère, notamment Jaime qui se défendra autant qu’elle le peut.

Enfin vous l’aurez compris, j’ai encore passé un bon moment avec ce roman. Le tout se lit assez rapidement et je suis curieuse de découvrir qui le prochain roman mettra en scène mais j’espère que ce sera Shaya et Nick car j’adore le personnage de la jeune femme et on compatit énormément avec elle dans ce volume.

Taryn finds herself drawn in by Trey’s forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in convincing their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates, Trey will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged mating.

But there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan—including the very real possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the deception.

Review: When I discovered this new release in French, I was immediately intrigued. I must say that I did not know the series, or even the author and I was looking forward to find out more. I knew before taking it that it was not an urban fantasy series but rather something like a paranormal romance one but I did not expect at all that the novel is finally an erotica paranormal romance novel. I don’t read too many novels like that, but I admit that it was fun! And I ‘m curious to read more now and see what the author will give us in the next one.

Taryn is the daughter of the alpha of her pack, but since her childhood and her mother’s death, her father considers her that as something completely useless. So why not join her to the alpha of another pack to consolidate an alliance? The fact that this man is crazy and violent doesn’t bother him in any way. But it bothers Taryn and she is determined to do anything to cancel the marriage she does not want. But Trey could offer her the ideal solution. She could mate with him for a while and it could benefit for both of them. She would be able to be left alone and Try would be able to have some new allies through her to oppose Darryl, his uncle who wants his pack. An alliance that should appeal to everyone if only Trey and Taryn weren’t falling for each other.

I loved the story. It is very difficult for Trey to accept what he feels for Taryn, as he is a ruthless man. It was very funny to see them together as these two alphas have an explosive nature. It was also really nice to have a heroine like Taryn, she is strong, determined and always says what she wants! And it’s pretty impressive to see that. She does not hesitate to speak her mind to anyone who seeks her. I admit that my favorite moments were the exchanges between our young heroine and Greta, the Trey’s grandmother. It was so funny! And despite her latency, Taryn is as strong as any wolf, or even more, which is quite impressive to see. It was also interesting to watch the evolution of Trey throughout the story. He was convinced from the start that this union would be temporary and that there would never be any attachment with this woman. But this is easier said than done and his resolutions will soon take a hit.

So it was as I said a very interesting story and it is fun to discover everything. Of course you can expect many sex scenes as the novel is really steamy (remember erotica paranormal romance?). The only thing that has upset me a little is the language as it is very crude mainly for Trey throughout the novel. It was perhaps a little too much for my taste. But it wasn’t really a big problem and I was delighted to discover this first novel! And as I said at the beginning, I am very curious to read the second book now.

Résumé : Incapable de se transformer en louve, Taryn Warner a toujours été méprisée par sa meute malgré son puissant don de guérison. Quand son père décide de l’unir de force à Roscoe Weston – un Alpha violent et dominateur qui lui promet de la briser – , Taryn refuse de se soumettre.
C’est alors que Trey Coleman, dangereux Alpha connu pour sa sauvagerie, lui propose un marché : s’unir – temporairement – à lui. Il y gagnerait une alliance et elle sa liberté. Mais faire semblant comporte aussi des risques. D’autant que leur attirance l’un pour l’autre semble hors de contrôle…

Avis : Quand j’ai découvert cette nouvelle sortie, j’ai été tout de suite intriguée. Il faut dire que je ne connaissais pas la série, ni même l’auteure et j’étais impatiente de pouvoir en découvrir plus. Je savais avant de le prendre que ce n’était pas de l’urban fantasy mais plutôt quelque chose comme de la romance paranormale mais je ne m’attendais pas du tout à ce que le roman soit réellement de la romance paranormale érotique. Je n’ai jamais trop lu de romans comme ça mais j’avoue que celui-ci m’a beaucoup plu ! Et je suis curieuse de lire la suite à présent et voir ce que l’auteure nous réserve à présent.

Taryn est la fille de l’alpha de sa meute, mais depuis toute petite et la mort de sa mère son père ne la considère que comme quelque chose de complètement inutile. Alors pourquoi ne pas l’unir à l’alpha d’une autre meute pour consolider une Alliance ? Le fait que cet homme soit complètement fou et ivre de brutalité ne le dérange en aucune manière. Pourtant cela dérange Taryn et elle est bien décidée à tout pour annuler ce mariage qu’elle ne veut pas. Mais Trey pourrait bien lui proposer la solution idéale, s’unir à lui pendant un certain temps pour lui éviter son futur compagnon et ainsi lui permettre à lui d’avoir des alliés pour s’opposer à Darryl qui veut récupérer sa meute. Une alliance qui devrait plaire à tout un chacun si seulement Trey et Taryn ne commençaient pas à tomber l’un pour l’autre.

J’ai beaucoup aimé l’histoire. Il est très difficile à Trey d’accepter ce qu’il ressent pour Taryn, lui cet homme impitoyable. C’était très drôle de les voir ensemble, ces deux alphas qui ont un caractère des plus explosifs. C’était vraiment agréable d’avoir une héroïne telle que Taryn, elle est forte, déterminée et ne mâche pas ses mots ! Et c’est peu dire, elle n’hésite pas à dire ce qu’elle pense à quiconque la cherche. J’avoue que les moments préférés étaient les échanges entre notre jeune héroïne et Greta, la grand-mère de Trey. Il n’y a pas plus drôle ! Et malgré sa latence, elle est aussi forte que n’importe quel loup, voire même plus, ce qui est assez impressionnant à voir. C’était aussi intéressant d’assister à l’évolution de Trey tout au long de l’histoire. Il était persuadé au départ que cette union serait temporaire et qu’il n’aurait jamais aucune attache envers cette femme. Pourtant c’est plus facile à dire qu’à faire et ses résolutions vont vite en prendre un coup.

C’était donc comme je le disais une histoire très intéressante et que l’on prend plaisir à découvrir. Bien sûr attendez-vous à de nombreuses scènes de sexe car le roman en est vraiment parsemé (vous vous rappelez romance paranormale érotique ?). La seule chose qui m’a par contre un peu dérangée c’est le langage vraiment très cru des personnages et notamment de Trey tout au long du roman. C’était peut-être un peu trop à mon goût. Mais cela ne m’a gâché aucunement la lecture et j’étais ravie de découvrir ce premier roman ! Et comme je le disais au début, je suis très curieuse de pouvoir lire le second tome à présent.
