Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones + Giveaway

Charley Davidson, Book 6

Synopsis: Few things in life can come between a grim reaper and her coffee, but the sexy, sultry son of Satan is one of them. Now that Reyes Farrow has asked for her hand, Charley Davidson feels it’s time to learn more about his past, but Reyes is reluctant to open up. When the official FBI file of his childhood abduction lands in her lap, Charley decides to go behind her mysterious beau’s back and conduct her own investigation. Because what could go wrong?

Unfortunately, another case has fallen into her lap—one with dangerous implications. Some very insistent men want Charley to hunt down a witness who is scheduled to testify against their boss, a major player in the local crime syndicate. If Charley doesn’t come up with an address in 48 hours, the people closest to her will start to disappear.

Add to that a desperate man in search of the soul he lost in a card game, a dogged mother determined to find the ghost of her son, and a beautiful, young Deaf boy haunted by his new ability to see the departed as clearly as he sees the living, and Charley has her hands full. The fact that Reyes has caught on to her latest venture only adds fuel to the inferno that he is. Good thing for Charley she’s used to multi-tasking and always up for a challenge…especially when that challenge comes in the form of Reyes Farrow.

Review: Ah this series … each volume is always a delight to read and I admit that I was really excited to discover this new novel featuring our dear Charley. And it is true that as soon as I got it, I rushed to get into the story.

I admit that by starting the novel, I did not expect to see Charley in so many situations at once and with that many problems. Yes because it must be said, there are lots of them this time. Between Reyes who decided that he had to protect her at all times and who is looking forward to the answer to his marriage proposal. It was something very funny indeed, as he is always looking for her answer and he is full of imagination! But in addition to this, our dear heroine is determined to understand the Reyes past, even if he wants to tell her the truth or not and I must say that she will discover a much more complicated story than she would have thought. Of course we also have our ghosts, between a naked man who seems determined to follow her without saying anything and the ghost of her apartment she begins to understand. I admit that I’m curious about it since the beginning of the series and we manage to discover a little more about him. No, we do not have any real answers, but it is true that I am impatient to discover the truth about him. Anything else? Oh yes because we still have many things. Charley ‘s father seems determined to act in relation to his daughter, and again, despite the questions we have, we do not have the answers. In addition, a crime lord decided that the young woman had to find a witness who is supposed to drop him, blackmailing her to kill one of her friends. Problem? It seems that no one of her friends has recently disappeared. I confess to that point that I immediately knew who it was, but I did not expect at all the purpose of the story. But we also have some revelations about Angel, the encounter with a new entity, new revelations about Charley and another threat from the underworld on the way. So yes, our reaper will have a lot to manage with and we’re brought in a wild ride!

I really enjoyed seeing so many things in the novel and Charley will discover here that her actions have sometimes serious consequences. She will have to make choices that can change her future and that of the world. As always, our heroine comes perfectly to get in fairly catastrophic situations while she always has the best intentions, but as Reyes said, sometimes she is just too nice to people she does not know about. As for Reyes, it was really interesting to see him trying to lead a normal life while watching the young woman, but I must say he is always behind what is happening. We are introduced to some new characters in this sixth installment and I’m sure we will see them very quickly and take an important place in the following volumes.

To conclude, I can tell you that I still had a great time even if maybe the others were a little better and I can only recommend you to start the series, you will melt for Reyes and you will love Charley!
