Riley jenson Guardian, Book 6

Synopsis: Danger turns her on. Desire turns her dangerous…

Riley Jenson hunts evildoers—and does it with a style all her own. With vamp blood coursing her through her veins, and a werewolf’s uncanny instinct for danger, Riley wears snakeskin stilettos and pure, in-your-face attitude when she plunges into her latest case: hunting down a killer whose victims are high-society strumpets—and the rich and powerful men they’ve dated.

But for Riley, the case takes a chilling turn when a second killer starts trailing mutilated bodies of his own: a crazed young vamp choosing victims from a past marked by tragedy. Riley knows she’s got the skill and cunning to catch two serial killers at once…until one of them strikes inside her own tight-knit clan—and a sexy beast of a vampire reenters her life to aid in the hunt. His name is Quinn. He’s lived forever, shed blood, and shared pleasure…and he’s the only man over whom Riley has absolutely no control….

Review: It’s been a while since I had this book, but because of a lack of time I had not yet had the opportunity to immerse myself in it. So here is the sixth installment of the adventures of Riley Jenson and of the rest of the band. I’m still quite surprised because I think the series gets better with each book. We get more and more over the needs of our heroine although they are mentioned and the story focuses much more on the story and the plot.

Since her separation from Kelley, Riley throws herself in her work, but I must say that it is a very addictive one. Our wolf will have to deal with two very intriguing investigations and it’s hard to understand what happened. Some really cruel murders occur, mixing many new characters. I was immediately intrigued by these two new cases, trying to determine what happened. And what about the appearance of Quinn in the middle of the book? A real pleasure too. It’s always funny to see the two characters evolving together. They are both so different and so similar at once. I wonder what will happen to our two protagonists thereafter.

I think Riley has evolved considerably since the beginning of the series, she understands better that it is sometimes difficult to only have fun and that she sometimes needs to stay calm. This is a turning point in her life. Her powers continue to expand and it is true that her transformations in gull made me smile throughout the chapters. It was a funny idea and at the same time it is an animal that is perfect for her. I could perfectly see her frustration of not being able to become a more majestic animal.

There are no time outs in the book, so be aware that you have to follow all the events not to be lost in the story. I really like the Keri Arthur’s style and each volumes of her series is a good example. I’m pretty curious to see what the author reserves us for later because finally we come gradually to the latest books. We’re also introduced in this volume of new creatures that I had never heard of and I confess that I could not give you the name as it was really special. It was however very interesting to learn about them and to discover their skills.

This novel was so pretty on and I’m glad the seventh is here to get into it.

Sounds like this is definitely the type of series you need to read from the beginning, no jumping around at all. Love a book that has you on edge throughout with no time outs! I hope to get to this series one day:)

I’d probably get lost, haha, I’m not too good when there’s a lot of things going on, especially when they’re really important to the story and need to follow, I always seem to forget things and have to go back to reread the part and stuff. Hope the next is just as good for you! 🙂

I don’t know how you keep up with all these series! That’s great the MC is evolving through the books though – and i hope you enjoy the seventh.

I like that the MC is maturing and showing growth, that makes the series worth while. I hope the seventh is even stronger.

Hm… maybe I need to continue with this series. I have a love/hate relationship with the author’s writing. I stopped at the second book (I think) but if she grows that much I may need to pick these up again!

    1. Melliane

I think it depends on the books

  15. Brandi Breathes Books

Nice cover and good to hear about how R has evolved

  16. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

You’ve got me so curious about these “special” creatures you can’t speak of. Is it because they’re just so bizarre you can’t explain, or talking about them will be revealing spoilers? I want to know now 😛

    1. Melliane

it’s just more interesting to discover the whole thing.
