Seriously Wicked, Book 3

Synopsis: Tina Connolly continues the hilarious adventures of teen witch Camellia and her mother, wicked witch Sarmine, in this latest installment to the Andre Norton Award-nominated “Seriously Wicked” series.

Teen witch Cam has resigned herself to being a witch. Sort of. She s willing to do small things, like magically help her boyfriend Devon get over his ongoing stage fright. But tangling with other witches is not on her wishlist. Joining her mother s wicked witch coven is right out.

New acquaintance Poppy Jones is a Type A, A+ Student of True Witchery. She s got all the answers, and she s delighted to tangle with a bunch of wicked witches. She doesn t need any reluctant witch getting in her way, especially one who knows less than a dozen spells, and has zero plans for witch college.

Then a coven meeting goes drastically awry. A hex is taking down all thirteen members of the coven, one by one putting both girls mothers in jeopardy. Now the two teens are going to have to learn to work together, while simultaneously juggling werewolf puppies, celebrity demons, thirteen nasty hexes, and even nastier witches. They may have to go through hell and high water to save their mothers but they also might find a new friendship along the way.

review: I liked the first two volumes. It’s always nice to find a YA novel with witches like that! And then it must be said that Cam is really not a witch like others and she is very good at finding herself in more than delicate situations.

From the beginning of the novel, Cam has to deal with the consequences of her witch life. Indeed, she made her boyfriend Devon accidentally invisible and nothing would seem to make him reappear. But on top of that, her mother forces her to take a place in the coven of which she is a member, although she has no desire to do so. It is also during this meeting that her mother disappears without a trace and while Cam forges an alliance with Poppy, one of the fellow witches, they discover that each person present during this exchange is struck by a spell. To understand what is happening and to save everyone, our two heroines will team up and discover a story much more complicated than she thought.

I enjoyed this story once again. Cam is still accepting her condition and finally realizing that her mother is not exactly what she thought. I really enjoyed learning more about her past and her father, whom we hear a lot about since the first novel. We also discover a little more about the world of these women and what they hide.
