Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

Synopsis: One punch took him from Hollywood’s Golden Boy to Bad Boy Brody.

The media didn’t care he was grieving his brother’s death. They descended on him, but to change his reputation, his manager got him a deal.

Act in an indie film, one that already had Oscar buzz, and he’d get the movie roles he needed to secure his future.

He took the deal.

Yet he wasn’t prepared for the real-life people behind the script. He wasn’t prepared for the murder the movie was based on. And he really wasn’t prepared for her, the biggest secret of all.

She was wild. She was beautiful. She defied gravity.

But was she the leading role that would tame him?

Review: This is a new novel from Tijan and as always, I was very curious to discover the story!

Brody was an actor who was starting to become a real star, but the death of his brother placed him in an endless chasm. He can not surpass this heartbreaking event, especially since he was on the phone with him at the time of the car accident. He can only remember the conversation loop without ever getting out anything. But being famous also has its drawbacks and the media have fallen on him, noting his changes of attitude, making him go from the movie star to the bad boy! So to rebuild his reputation, he agrees to be part of an independent movie, a mavie based on real people including the murder of a mother. Yet this movie will change everything for him!

I really enjoyed discovering the story, seeing how Brody managed to deal with his grief, which is very difficult for him. But on top of that, he’s going to realize what it’s like to shoot a movie that’s not based on fiction, to see the people who have gone through all that. And most importantly, he will discover that an important character in the story has been removed: a young woman that her brothers and sisters gave up on after Karen’s death. The book is thus divided between two points of view, the one of Brody and Morgan. The latter is a character rather difficult to define. She is wild, has been living with horses since she was 18, and tries to stay as far as possible from humans even if she goes to her house from time to time. Yet when she meets Brody, she realizes for the first time that she wants to interact with him, that she wants to help him and get to know him. But she also knows that she’s not like the others, that the horde of wild horses are more a family than anyone in this house.

I found the subject really interesting and original. On the other hand it is true that I asked myself question several times about the credibility of Morgan’s life. How can she live there without anyone knowing it? How does she buy her clothes? How is it that she became a local legend while she resides there? Is it really possible to really live only with horses? I do not know the subject well enough to really know if it is possible but I was wondering about that.

Apart from that, I really enjoyed seeing the evolution of the characters, seeing Brody trying to leave his past behind, seeing Morgan trying to open up, becoming more human than she ever was, to see her family so happy to see her, and especially to see all the links that united them all.

Yes, it was an interesting reading, touching too and different!
