Review: I’m always on the lookout for a good thriller and I enjoyed this novel.

Everyone knows the nursery rhyme of the Bone Keeper, everyone is afraid of him. He lives in the woods, he kills people and no one has ever found him. But then a woman is found wounded and she is convinced that she has been a victim of the Bone Keeper. Louise Henderson is on the case, but she is also hiding many secrets that may be about to be revealed.

I had a good time with the novel. I was intrigued by the whole Bone Keeper thing and was curious to find out the truth behind it all. I was eager to find out Louise’s secrets, but also the victim’s.

This was an engaging thriller, and I’m curious to read more of the author’s books now.

Résumé : Légende urbaine ou meurtrier de chair et d’os ?

Tous les enfants de Liverpool connaissent la comptine du Désosseur, monstre qui vivrait dans les bois depuis des décennies, enlèverait et tuerait ceux qui s’y hasardent – même si l’on n’a jamais pu prouver son existence…

Un jour, Louise Henderson et son collègue Shipley sont appelés au chevet d’une jeune femme blessée à l’arme blanche, qui affirme avoir été agressée par le Désosseur.

Les deux policiers attribuent d’abord ses allégations au choc subi, mais, peu après, le corps d’un homme est retrouvé là où elle aurait été attaquée, une clairière où l’on identifie des traces du tueur. Ne serait-ce donc pas qu’une légende ?

Il apparaît bientôt que Louise aurait un lien très personnel avec le Désosseur. Que cache donc son passé, qui la hante depuis si longtemps ?

Avis : Je suis toujours à la recherche d’un bon thriller et je me suis lancée dans ce roman avec plaisir.

Tout le monde connait la comptine du Désosseur, tout le monde en a peur. Il vit dans les bois, il tue des gens et personne ne l’a jamais trouvé. Mais voilà, une femme est retrouvée blessée et elle est persuadée d’avoir été victime du Désosseur. Louise Henderson est sur l’affaire, mais elle cache aussi de nombreux secrets qui pourraient bien être sur le point d’être révélés.

J’ai passé un bon moment avec le roman. J’étais intriguée par cette histoire de Désosseur et j’étais curieuse de découvrir la vérité derrière tout ça. J’avais hâte de découvrir les secrets de Louise, mais aussi de la victime.

C’était un thriller prenant, et je suis curieuse de lire d’autres livres de l’auteur à présent.

Review: I was quite intrigued by the novel and if I didn’t know what to expect, I had a great time.

Veronica is not an easy woman. At 86 years old, she is determined to find out what happened to her missing son and she discovers that she has a grandson, Patrick. A second chance for her to finally have a family? But her encounter with this twenty-year-old boy is far from what she had expected. She is even disappointed! Deciding to find a new hobby, she’s going to leave no choice to a group of scientists in Antarctica and go live with them for a month to take care of the penguins.

This was a very nice story of rebuilding, of a family rediscovering itself. I had a great time with Veronica and Patrick. I saw that there was a sequel, and I’m very curious to see the characters again!

héritiers. Elle retrouve la trace de Patrick, un petit-fils de vingt ans abandonné par son père et orphelin depuis l’âge de six ans, après le suicide de sa mère. Mais le jeune homme ne plaît pas à cette grand-mère acariâtre.

À la suite de cette rencontre désastreuse, Veronica décide de léguer ses biens aux pingouins et obtient
d’accompagner une mission scientifique en Antarctique pour observer ses petits protégés.

Mais Veronica tombe malade lors de ce voyage et Patrick, sa seule famille, est appelé à son chevet. Comme deux animaux sauvages, ils vont apprendre à s’apprivoiser au milieu des icebergs…

Avis : J’ai été assez intriguée par le roman et surtout cette nouvelle collection d’Archipel dont je n’avais pas encore rien lu. Et si je ne savais pas trop à quoi m’attendre, j’ai passé un très bon moment.

Veronica n’est pas une femme facile. Agée de 86 ans, elle est décidée à découvrir ce qui est arrivé à son fils disparu et elle découvre ainsi qu’elle a un petit-fils, Patrick. Une deuxième chance pour elle d’avoir enfin une famille ? Mais sa rencontre avec ce garçon de vingt ans est très loin de ce à quoi elle s’était attendue. Elle est même déçue ! Décidant de se trouver un nouveau loisir, elle ne va pas laisser le choix à un groupe de scientifiques en Antarctique et va partir vivre avec eux pendant un mois pour s’occuper des pingouins.

C’était une très jolie histoire de reconstruction, d’une famille qui se redécouvre. J’ai passé un bon moment avec Veronica et Patrick. J’ai vu qu’il y avait une suite, et je suis très curieuse de retrouver les personnages !

Review: I had this novel for some time and I must admit that because of the cover, I thought it was a vampire story. I was completely wrong and it is something original that the author offers us.

Evie is a young girl like any other… Well, almost. After a stay in a psychiatric hospital, she is back in school. But she still has hallucinations and sometimes hears voices. She also sees the end of the world, but she didn’t expect it to happen… Forced to join forces with a hot and unbearable boy from her high school, she has to face this new world to try to find her grandmother and discover who she really is. She didn’t expect such an answer though.

I had a great time with this novel and I loved the universe that the author created. A very nice read! The characters are all exciting to discover and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. I’m a little afraid of the next few novels, because even though I really enjoyed this first volume, I saw that readers had trouble with the big love triangle and Evie’s reactions. But this book was great anyway!

Résumé : “Je m’appelle Evie, et je pensais mener une vie normale – si l’on excepte une attirance absurde pour Jackson Deveaux, ce grossier personnage venu tout droit du bayou, et mes nuits sont hantées par des cauchemars sans nom. Le jour où ces visions ont pris le pas sur la réalité, j’ai cru devenir folle; je me suis trompée. Si je m’étais fiée à ces prémonitions, j’aurai su que le Flash qui s’abattrait sur nous détruirait tout sur son passage, qu’après cette apocalypse, je ne serais jamais plus la même.

Car j’ignore encore ce qui nous attend, mais je suis convaincue d’une chose : l’avenir sera terrible, et les cartes qui en décident n’ont pas dit leur dernier mot…”

Avis : J’ai ce roman depuis quelques temps et je dois bien avouer qu’à cause de la couverture, j’ai cru que c’était une histoire de vampires. Pour le coup, j’avais complètement tort et c’est quelque chose d’original que l’auteure nous propose.

Evie est une jeune fille comme les autres… Enfin presque. Après avoir passé un séjour dans un hôpital psychiatrique, elle est de retour en cours. Mais voilà, elle a toujours des hallucinations et elle entend parfois des voix. Elle voit aussi la fin du monde, mais elle ne s’attendait pas à ce que ça se produise… Obligée de s’allier à un garçon aussi sexy qu’insupportable de son lycée, elle va devoir affronter ce nouveau monde pour essayer de retrouver sa grand-mère et découvrir qui elle est vraiment. Elle ne s’attendait par contre pas à une telle réponse.

J’ai passé un très bon moment avec ce roman et j’ai adoré l’univers que l’auteure a créé. Une très belle lecture ! Les personnages sont tous passionnants à découvrir et j’étais impatiente de voir ce qui allait se passer. J’ai un peu peur des prochains romans, parce que même si j’ai beaucoup apprécié ce premier tome, j’ai vu que les lecteurs ont eu du mal avec le gros triangle amoureux et les réactions d’Evie. Mais ce tome-là était super en tout cas !

Review: I’ve heard a lot about this series and was curious about this first volume!

Holly is a witch who had to leave her world after some transgressions to live on Earth. She isn’t happy about that! On top of that, she’s now living in an old mansion run by a stressed-out ghost, and where her roommates are a sexy werewolf, a vampire who dreams of winning a beauty pageant, and Garry, a terrifying man whose nature nobody knows. But here’s the thing: her new life is going relatively well and she’s even found a job at a coffee shop where one of her co-workers has become her best friend. That is, until she stumbles upon the dead body of her manager in the alley behind the shop… Worse than that, all suspicions are on her best friend! Determined to find out who’s responsible, Holly must team up with the town’s private investigator aka paranormal detective while hoping he doesn’t discover her secret. Not an easy task!

I had a great time with the novel and was curious to find out who the culprit was. I was also wondering what would happen with Nick, the detective and Adam the werewolf. I was a little dubious about one point of the investigation, but it wasn’t a big deal.

It was a nice cozy, the characters are great and I’m pretty curious to see them again in the sequel!
