Review: I really liked the first book as it really touched me. So I threw myself on the second novel as soon as I had the opportunity. I must say that I was curious to discover the stories of the Matheo’s sisters that we had discovered in the previous volume. And as you can see in the summary, here we follow Lety!

Our young heroine had a very difficult and sad childhood with an abusive father and even if his brother paid the price, it is the same for these two little girls. But Lety is determined to change that, to finish her studies and to become someone, an independent woman, to be able to release her past. But whatever she does, her father still remembers her that he is here and because of that, she loses her scholarship while… she already had a hard time earning a livelihood. To change this, she decides to add a work in addition to everything she does. Her ex-boyfriend Brody wants to help her, to lend her money, to make her succumb again but Lety is determined to resist. Yet she might fall in love with the boy even though she refuses any financial aid. Yes, because our heroine refuses to depend on a man as does her mother, she refuses to trust, but she also refuses to let go of things. But Brody is far from her father and he would never hurt her, however, it does not change the ideas of the young girl who has a hard time letting anyone else get into her broken life. Yet this boy could also be broken by his own demons, and she discovers his own past gradually. But each will have to open up to the other, to evolve, to trust, to face what happened and to move forward. One thing is certain it will not be easy.

I really had a great time with this novel even though everything was really heartbreaking. The stories of our two characters are really touching and it’s true that we hope that they will have a happy ending together. Lety is dealing with the consequences of what she has suffered over the years and we fully understand that, yet we also know that Brody could be the one to help her. But the young woman is also very strong, she will dare to act when no one has done this before, to stand up to her father despite the consequences. We also learn a little more about Evie and Matheo, what they are doing even if we do not see them much here. The Lety’s sister was not very present either but I am very curious to discover her own story!

Again this is a really powerful story that the author presents here. We can only be carried away by all the feelings presented and we suffer with the characters, we share their hopes and we expect a happy ending for everyone. But nothing will be easy and although like Lety, we’re angry with her mother who lets things getting worse, we hope someone will step in to help this family. A new very good story to discover.

Avec Lety souffrant plus que jamais, Brody s’efforce de gagner son cœur et lui faire croire à l’amour et au véritable partenariat. Cela se traduit par la révélation des secrets cachés dans son passé – et faire confiance comme il n’a jamais osé.

Lety sait comment cela peut être douloureux à dépendre de la mauvaise personne. Elle sait aussi combien Brody veut le faire de la bonne façon. Mais il faut plus que le désir pour avancer et construire un avenir ensemble.

Avis : J’avais vraiment beaucoup aimé le premier tome qui m’avait vraiment touché. Aussi je me suis jetée sur ce roman aussitôt que j’ai pu avoir une épreuve non corrigée. Il faut dire que j’étais curieuse de pouvoir découvrir les histoires des sœurs de Matheo que nous avions découvertes dans le tome précédent. Et comme vous le voyez dans le résumé, nous suivons ici Lety !

Notre jeune héroïne a eu une enfance très difficile et très triste avec un père violent et même si son frère en a payé le prix, il en est de même pour ces deux petites filles. Mais Lety est bien décidée à changer cela, à finir ses études, et à devenir quelqu’un, une femme indépendante et libérée de son passé. Pourtant quoi qu’elle fasse son père se rappelle toujours à elle et c’est ainsi qu’elle perd sa bourse d’études, elle qui avait déjà beaucoup de mal à subvenir à ses besoins. Pour changer cela, elle décide donc de rajouter un travail en plus à tout ce qu’elle fait. Bien sur son ex-petit ami Brody désire l’aider, lui prêter de l’argent, la refaire succomber aussi pour le coup mais Lety est bien décidée à résister. Mais pourtant il se pourrait bien qu’elle retombe sous le charme du garçon même si elle refuse catégoriquement toute aide financière. Oui car  notre héroïne refuse de dépendre d’un homme comme le fait sa mère, elle refuse de faire confiance, mais elle refuse aussi de se laisser aller. Pourtant Brody est loin d’être son père et ne lui ferait jamais de mal, mais cela ne change pas les idées de la jeune fille qui a beaucoup de mal à laisser entrer quelqu’un d’autre dans sa vie brisée. Pourtant, ce garçon pourrait bien être brisé aussi par ses propres démons, son propre passé qu’elle découvrira petit à petit. Mais chacun va devoir s’ouvrir à l’autre, évoluer, faire confiance, affronter ce qu’il s’est passé et avancer. Une chose est sûre ce ne sera pas facile.

J’ai vraiment passé un très bon moment avec ce roman même si le tout nous fait vraiment mal au cœur. Les histoires de nos deux personnages sont vraiment touchantes et c’est vrai qu’on espère qu’ils auront une fin heureuse ensemble. Lety a de nombreuses séquelles de ce qu’elle a subi au cours des années et on le comprend parfaitement, pourtant on sait aussi que Brody pourrait être celui pour l’aider. Mais la jeune femme est aussi très forte, elle osera agir alors que personne ne l’a fait à présent, à tenir tête à son père malgré les conséquences. Nous en apprenons aussi un peu plus sur Evie et Matheo, sur ce qu’ils sont devenus même si on ne les voit pas beaucoup ici. La sœur de Lety n’est pas non plus très présente mais je suis très curieuse de pouvoir découvrir sa propre histoire !

Encore une fois c’est une histoire vraiment poignante que l’auteure nous présente ici. On ne peut qu’être emporté par tous les sentiments présentés, souffrir avec les personnages, partager leurs espoirs et attendre une fin heureuse pour chacun. Mais rien ne sera facile et même si comme Lety nous en voulons à sa mère qui se laisse faire sans s’opposer, on espère que quelqu’un interviendra pour aider cette famille. Une nouvelle très bonne histoire à découvrir.

Review: I’m not the biggest fan of NA and it’s true that I do not read much either so I may not be objective about this one. Yet when I found this novel by Cecy Robson, I knew that I had to try it. I must admit that nothing really appealed to me, but I have never been disappointed by the author, so I had to get into it. Have you read her Weird Girls series? I love it! But I can tell you something! I was not disappointed this time either. This is another genre that the author presents here and I think I can say that I was satisfied.

Mateo and Evelyn are two wounded souls by their past, even if we do not know about their story from the beginning, both bears a difficult burden. They both come from two different worlds but they end up in the same environment. Mateo is a nice boy, brave, willing to do anything for his family that has never had a real chance. But even trying to do the best, life has not been kind to him, and is still difficult in fact. It’s very touching to get to know and understand him. It is difficult to follow and accept all his choices, but at the same time we understand why he chose to do so. Sometimes there is no option to do otherwise. And then there is Evelyn … The two have worked together for several months, but an event will change their relationship and how they both see each other. It was very touching to see that they both had found someone, a person who shall be present for the other, and a natural person, full of goodness. No, their story is not easy, but they will do everything to get through the trials together. I was very touched by the history of two people wounded by life but they will try to rebuild something together.

I will talk a little more about Evelyn. Oh yes, this girl is a great character to explore. It is very difficult for her to get involved with someone but we’ll learn why and learn more about her… She has been through so much in her life and we find out a little more about her each time. Poor Evie … I can tell you that her story and Mateo’s shook my throat several times, made me tears to my eyes, but it was a great discovery for me. Cecy Robson has perfectly shared the characters’ feelings with her readers and I was really blown away by the whole story. The meeting of two broken souls who will tame to try to become something more and create something they never had.

So yes it is true that I am very happy to have had the opportunity to discover this novel and I hope the author will continue in this register because I am curious to read more. It was a great discovery for me.

Avis : Je ne suis pas la plus grande fan de NA et c’est vrai que je n’en lis pas beaucoup non plus donc je ne suis peut-être pas objective à ce sujet. Pourtant quand j’ai découvert ce roman de Cecy Robson, j’ai su qu’il fallait que je le tente. Je dois avouer que rien ne m’attirait vraiment, mais n’ayant jamais été déçue par l’auteur, il fallait que je l’essaie. Avez-vous lu sa série Weird Girls ? Je l’adore ! Mais je peux vous dire quelque chose ? Je n’ai pas été déçue cette fois ci non plus. C’est un autre genre que l’auteur nous présente ici et je pense pouvoir dire que j’ai été convaincue.

Mateo et Evelyn sont deux âmes blessées par leur passé et même si on ne connait pas leur histoire dès le départ, on comprend qu’ils portent tous les deux un poids difficile. Ils viennent tous les deux de deux mondes différents mais se retrouvent maintenant. Mateo est un garçon gentil, courageux, prêt à tout pour sa famille qui n’a jamais eu de réelles chances. Mais même en essayant de faire au mieux, la vie n’a pas été tendre avec lui, et reste encore difficile d’ailleurs. C’est très touchant d’apprendre à le connaître et le comprendre. Il est difficile de suivre et accepter tous ses choix, mais en même temps on comprend pourquoi il agit ainsi. Parfois il n’y a pas possibilité de faire autrement. Et puis il y a Evelyn… Les deux travaillent ensemble depuis plusieurs mois, mais un événement va changer leur relation et la façon dont ils se voient tous les deux. C’était très touchant de voir qu’ils avaient tous les deux trouvé quelqu’un, une personne qui puisse être présente, une personne naturelle et pleine de bonté. Non, leur histoire n’est pas facile, mais ils vont tout faire pour traverser les épreuves ensemble. J’ai été très touchée par cette histoire entre deux personnes blessées par la vie mais qui vont essayer de se reconstruire ensemble.

Je vais vous parler un peu d’Evelyn. Oh oui, cette jeune fille est un personnage formidable à découvrir. Elle a beaucoup de mal à s’investir avec quelqu’un mais on apprendra la raison et quelle histoire difficile elle a eu… Elle a traversé tellement de choses dans sa vie et nous en découvrons un peu plus à chaque fois. Pauvre Evie… Je peux vous dire que son histoire à elle et Mateo m’ont serré la gorge plusieurs fois, m’ont fait monter les larmes aux yeux, mais c’était une belle découverte pour moi. Cecy Robson a parfaitement su partager les sentiments des personnages avec ses lecteurs et j’ai été vraiment emportée par le tout. La rencontre de deux âmes brisées qui vont s’apprivoiser pour essayer de devenir quelque chose de plus et créer quelque chose qu’ils n’ont jamais eu.

Alors oui c’est vrai je suis très contente d’avoir eu l’opportunité de découvrir ce roman et j’espère que l’auteur continuera dans ce registre car je serai curieuse d’en lire plus. C’était une très belle découverte pour moi.
