Review: I had had a good time with the first volume, and I was curious to discover this second book. I must say that I generally like Victoria Laurie’s novels a lot, so I was looking forward to getting into this one!

Abby doesn’t even have time to create something with Dutch that he’s away for his FBI training. But here’s the thing: she’s really not going to get bored when she has to help the police discovering the identity of a man who seems to be attacking women. However, this is easier said than done, despite her gift. In addition to that, she attracts the attention of the mafia by doing a reading at a wedding, which will have far more important consequences than expected!

I really had a great time once again with this book, and it was a real pleasure to discover and follow Abby once again. Despite her desires, she will find herself in difficult situations and will have to make choices that will completely change the game! I really liked the mix with the mafia or the story with her sister Gemma. As always, I am curious to read more and see what our heroine has in store for us in the future!

Lorsque la police fait appel à son intuition psychique pour faire la lumière sur un homme masqué qui s’en prend aux femmes, Abby se retrouve à travailler seule des deux côtés de la loi, ce qui l’amène à se demander pourquoi elle ne l’avait pas vu venir.

Avis : J’avais passé un bon moment avec le premier tome, et j’étais curieuse de découvrir ce second opus. Il faut dire que j’apprécie généralement beaucoup les romans de Victoria Laurie, alors j’étais impatiente de me lancer dans celui-ci !

Abby n’a même pas le temps de créer quelque chose avec Dutch qu’il est loin pour sa formation au FBI. Mais voilà, elle ne risque vraiment pas de s’ennuyer quand elle doit aider la police à découvrir l’identité d’un homme qui semble s’en prendre aux femmes. C’est cependant plus facile à dire qu’à faire, malgré son don. En plus de cela, elle attire l’attention de la mafia en faisant une lecture lors d’un mariage, ce qui va avoir des conséquences bien plus importantes que prévues !

J’ai vraiment passé un super moment une fois encore avec ce livre, et c’était un réel plaisir de découvrir et de suivre une fois de plus Abby. Malgré ses désirs, elle va se retrouver dans des situations difficiles et elle devra faire des choix qui changeront complètement la donne ! J’ai vraiment bien aimé le mélange avec la mafia ou encore l’histoire avec sa sœur Gemma. Je suis comme toujours curieuse d’en lire plus et de voir ce que notre héroïne nous réserve pour la suite !

After Brett and company ink Sin City’s newest drag queens, they’re invited to opening night at the strip’s glamorous Nylon and Tattoos show-which ends in disaster when a stranger with a Queen of Hearts tattoo fatally injures Britney Brassieres with a champagne cork. And when another drag queen is found poisoned, it looks like someone’s targeting Vegas’s fabulous femmes…

Review: I had a good time with the first volume and I bought the second one right away. It took me a little longer to get it into the story, but I did it with great pleasure.

Our heroine, Brett, finds herself immersed in a story that is completely beyond her control. Attending an evening of a new drag queen show, someone pulls the cork out of a bottle on the singer on stage. It may seem harmless, but it’s the beginning of the problems. Between possible terrorists, politics, secrets, explosions and deaths, Brett will no longer know where to turn. And that’s not to mention the cop who seems to hate her, Jeff trying to help her, or the hot doctor she doesn’t trust.

It was a novel that made me have a good time and I must admit that I was curious to see exactly what would happen. I didn’t expect the story to turn out that way and the truth about who did it was a real surprise. If you want a cozy mystery to have a good time, all this in the tattoo world, don’t hesitate! I’m only in the second volume, but there are only four, so it’s not a long series to get into either.

I’m curious to see the next investigation and especially what will happen with all our characters!

Et quand une autre drag queen est retrouvée empoisonnée, on dirait que quelqu’un vise les fabuleuses femmes de Vegas….

Avis : J’avais passé un bon moment avec le premier tome et je m’étais acheté le deuxième dans la foulée. Il m’a fallu un peu plus de temps pour le lancer dans l’histoire, mais je l’ai fait avec grand plaisir.

Notre héroïne, Brett, se retrouve plongée dans une histoire qui la dépasse complètement. Assistant à une soirée présentant un nouveau spectacle de drag queens, quelqu’un tire le bouchon d’une bouteille sur la chanteuse sur scène. Ca peut paraitre inoffensif et pourtant, c’est le début des problèmes. Entre possibles terroristes, politique, secrets, explosions et morts, Brett ne saura plus où donner de la tête. Et c’est sans parler de ce flic qui semble la détester, Jeff qui essaie de l’aider, ou encore le docteur sexy dont elle se méfie.

C’était un roman qui m’a fait passer un bon moment et j’avoue que j’étais curieuse de voir ce qu’il en était exactement. Je ne m’attendais pas à ce que l’histoire tourne ainsi et la vérité sur le coupable a été une véritable surprise. Si vous avez envie d’un cozy mystery pour passer un bon moment, tout cela dans l’univers du tatouage, n’hésitez pas ! Je n’en suis qu’au second tome, mais il n’y en a que quatre donc ce n’est pas non plus une longue série dans laquelle se lancer.

Je suis curieuse de voir la prochaine enquête et surtout ce qu’il va se passer avec tous nos personnages !

Review: I was curious to start this series for some time and I finally got into The Missing Ink. It’s been a long time since I had read a cozy mystery novel but it’s always a pleasure to go back to the genre.

I really appreciated the fact that the universe is happening in the tattooing world. This is not often the case and I found it very interesting. Brett Kavanaugh has her own tattoo shop in Las Vegas and everything goes smoothly until a young woman comes in to ask for a tattoo and disappears even before the job is done. On the front of the media scene, Brett will try to understand what could have happened to the young woman. And even her police brother will not prevent her from discovering the truth!

I really had a great time with this novel. I went into the investigation without suspecting how it would end. I found that the author had managed to train us and make us doubt about all the characters and I can tell you that we can not expect the events! Brett’s actions are carefully monitored and we wonder who the culprit is. Yes, Brett is a great heroine but we will discover many other secondary characters that make us have a great time too!

I have already ordered the sequel to read what the author has in store for us!

But a grave situation took a turn for the worse when a head-on collision with a headstone left her with an unwanted ability to communicate with the disgruntled deceased . . . and now Pepper has a whacked Mafia don demanding that she hunt down his killers — and threatening to haunt her until she does.

Review: Don of the Dead is the first volume of the Pepper Martin series. The basic idea is not necessarily original, thus putting in scene a woman who suddenly has the gift to see the dead. You surely suspect that now they want her to help them pass into the afterlife. Her first client is none other than a former godfather of the Mafia, murdered many years ago.

I loved the idea of solving the murder of a Mafia godfather. As I said the basic story is quite common but this framework allows us to think outside the box. Indeed, our heroine will mingle with colorful characters and her questions will put her in serious danger. It must be said that this environment does not like someone who puts her nose in their affairs. Yet Pepper is determined to find out what happened to Gus.

In addition to this investigation for which I confess, it took me the last moments to understand who the culprit was, we also follow the love interest of our young heroine. It must be said that the two men she crosses the path with are really intriguing. First, there is Dan, this shy man who wants Pepper to enter his clinical trial but seems to hide certain things. Quinn is another character we are interested in (Team Quinn!). He is a policeman who will help Pepper several times and I hope to see him again very soon I have to say!

It was a very nice volume to read and I had a good time with the story!

Avis : Don of the Dead est le premier tome de la série Pepper Martin. L’idée de base n’est pas forcément originale, mettant ainsi en scène une femme qui a soudainement le don de voir les morts. Vous vous doutez surement que, maintenant, ils désirent qu’elle les aide à passer dans l’au-delà. Son premier client n’est rien d’autre qu’un ancien parrain de la mafia, assassiné il y a de nombreuses années.

J’ai beaucoup aimé l’idée de résoudre le meurtre d’un parrain de la mafia. Comme je le disais l’histoire de base est assez commune mais ce cadre permet de sortir des sentiers battus. En effet, notre héroïne va se mêler à des personnages hauts en couleur et ses questions vont la mettre gravement en danger. Il faut dire que ce milieu n’aime pas qu’on mette son nez dans leurs affaires. Pourtant, Pepper est bien déterminée à trouver ce qui est arrivé à Gus.

En plus de cette enquête pour laquelle j’avoue, il m’a fallu les derniers moments pour comprendre qui était le coupable, on suit aussi l’intérêt amoureux de notre jeune héroïne. Il faut dire que les deux hommes dont elle croise la route dont vraiment intrigants. Il y a tout d’abord Dan, cet homme timide, qui désire que Pepper entre dans son essai clinique mais qui semble cacher certaines choses. Quinn est un autre des personnages qui nous intéresse (Team Quinn !). C’est un policier qui va aider Pepper à plusieurs reprises et que j’espère revoir très bientôt je dois dire !

C’était un tome très sympa à lire et j’ai passé un bon moment avec l’histoire !
