Ensuite Allie est forcée à se réfugier dans l’inconnu, en dehors des murs de sa ville. Là, elle rejoindra une bande d’humains en aillons, qui sont en quête d’une légende, un possible traitement pour cette maladie qui tue les humains et qui crée les lapins, ces créatures sans cervelles qui menacent vampires et humains.
Mais ce n’est pas facile de se faire passer pour humain. Surtout pas avec Zeke, qui pourrait bien voir le monstre qu’elle a en elle. Et Allie va devoir vite choisir pour qui ou quoi elle serait capable de mourir.
