Fall by Kristen Callihan

VIP, Book 3

Synopsis: The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Review: When I saw the synopsis I was very curious to read the story but I did not pay attention that this novel was part of a series and that it was finally a volume 3. Yet, someone told me it was not necessary to read the previous volumes and I confirm it. I had no problem getting into the story.

Stella and Jax are completely opposed. She is an unpretentious young woman and he is a great rock star. So when she meets him without knowing who he is in a store and that he is about to take the last ice cream that she wants, she sees only one solution to distract him, to kiss him to destabilize him to run away with the pot. While she never thought to see him again, she found herself becoming her neighbor for a few months. She realizes who he is and he is determined to remind her and make her pay for his ice cream. Still, Stella is far from all the women he has known, but they will also have to deal with their darkest secrets to move forward.

I really had a good time with the story. Stella and Jax are always making the other nuts. They are two lonely and fragile beings who will meet and perhaps help each other too. Jax would like everyone to really see him for what he is, even if it’s not easy with the people who live around him. Stella has a pretty original job, but she also expects more from life. Both will complete the other perfectly!

It was a very nice romance and I loved watching the evolution of the two characters in contact with each other.
