Liars, Inc., Book 2

Synopsis: Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot—and bothered.

Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!

Actually…could it be?

Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

Review: I had a good time with the first volume and I found the idea very interesting too. It must be said that we do not expect to find a private detective agency that only works to verify that your husband is cheating on you or not, while giving a little of their person to verify it.

After following Blaire and Collin in the first volume, we turn this time on Isla and Jessy. It was surprising to see his interest go from Blaire to Isla, but it finally works pretty well anyway. It must be said that our Jessy is determined, but really determined, to close their company and that’s all that matters! But between attraction and anger, the line is fine, even very fine. So when they kiss and are surprised by a paparazzi, they have no choice but to find a lie to prevent Jessy from being once again in a scandal. They have the idea to say that they will get married … Good idea or bad idea? When feelings get involved too, nothing will be really simple.

I had a good time with the story. It was nice to find the characters a bit and to see Isla and Jessy turn around without really knowing what they are doing. But now, Jessy has a hidden asset that could explode in his face and he will have to make choices! There are of course several appearances of Blaire and Collin, which I also appreciated. A light novel, a lie that becomes reality. It’s always nice to read something like that.

I listened to part of the first book and it wasn’t working for me so I set it aside. I do want to go back to it and it is good to know that you enjoyed this one!

I read some of the first book, it’s fun so far, and I need to get back to it soon. I’m glad that Jessy switching his interest from Blaire to Isla works out, because I wondered about that. Great review, Melliane! 🙂

I have read absolutely ridiculous (not so realistic) but VERY fun books by this author. She is nice to meet in person also. Anne – Books of My Heart
