NYPD Red 6 by James Patterson &, Marshall Karp

NYPD Red, Book 6

Synopsis: At the wedding of the century, a brazen kidnapper steals the star of the show…

Erin Easton’s wedding in one of New York’s biggest venues may have a TV crew documenting every extravagant detail, but when the bride disappears from the reception, it’s no diva turn. Her dressing room is empty except for a blood-spattered wedding dress.

Detective Kylie MacDonald of NYPD Red, already at the scene as a plus-one, brings in her partner, Detective Zach Jordan, to search for the missing bride. Unable to rule anything out, every A-list celebrity on the guest list has to be considered either a target of suspicion . . . or a target.

Review: I haven’t read the first few books in the series, but I’ve read a few after that and I always enjoy following Kylie and Zach.

This time our two investigators find themselves immersed in a big story. Everyone is watching them closely: a reality TV star has been kidnapped at her wedding and the kidnapper seems to be doing whatever he wants under the police’s nose. Zach and Kylie have to find him before this story gets any bigger. But this isn’t the only case they have, as rich seniors are being robbed and the culprits always seem to know where to find their victims’ belongings. How is this possible?

Kylie and Zach’s relationship is always a little strange and even though Zach is with someone else, he’s not sure what to do and isn’t sure how to suppress his feelings. I think the author does a good job of sharing the complexity of everyone’s emotions. I’m also very curious to see what happens next.

A nice investigation!
