Fall Away, Book 1

Synopsis: My name is Tate. He doesn’t call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he’ll barely even speak to me.

But he still won’t leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I’ve been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I’m done hiding from him now, and there’s no way in hell I’ll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It’s time to fight back.

I’m not going to let him bully me anymore.

Review: I did not know about this novel at all, but after a contest I asked my friend Silvia to surprise me with the novel she would choose for me and that’s how I started in Bully. You can imagine that with a title like this, the main theme is of course harassment.

Tate and Jared were the best friends in the world when they were younger. But everything changed overnight when after the summer holidays, Jared came back very different from the boy she knew. Since then, he has made her life hell, taking advantage of every opportunity to belittle and humiliate her. No longer able to support it, Tate left for a year in France and when she returns she is determined not to let it go. This is something that intrigues the young man … Tate finally ripostes!

It’s a really intense novel. I felt very sorry for the girl. She has to go through a lot of hardships and Jared never seems to stop, and tries to test her limits. She does not understand how the situation with Jared had degenerated to this point, what she did wrong so that he hates her so much …

I really had a great time with the story that I had a hard time letting it go. This is a very interesting subject and although I find that Tate forgives a little too easily in the end, I took a lot of pleasure in discovering this story. I admit that I am also very curious to read the other volumes, especially when we know that Madoc, Jared best friend, is the main character!

A touching novel on a rather complicated subject.
