Family is Forever by S.C. Stephens

Conversion, Book 6

Synopsis: Julian Adams would give anything to rewind the last few months. His sister has been forever altered, a man he distrusts is now a permanent part of his family, and the woman of his dreams no longer remembers him. The only thing left for Julian to do is start over.

Nika Adams is finally content with her life. She’s forever bound to her soulmate, and helping him with a project that has given him purpose. But just when it seems peace is on the horizon, an unintended consequence of Hunter’s work arises, and everyone must pull together to find a way to keep the family safe … forever.

Review: I heard so much about S.C Stephens and her romances, so I was curious to get into one of her books. Well, I still think that I made a mistake to take the novel without looking at what it was exactly because I was finally surprised to see that it was a volume 6 and that it was not a contemporary novel but a book about vampires! Yes, it was not what I expected but I can only blame myself! I must say that I am not too much in my “vampire” phase right now, but I had a great time with the novel. I realize that it would have been more logical and perhaps simpler to start with the first volume of the series, but in the end I did not have so much trouble getting into the story.

We follow here alternately several characters but mainly Nika and her brother Julian. The two of them had changes in their lives and they are both trying to deal with the consequences now. Nika has to face her new vampire condition, but also her relationship with her soul mate Hunter, something that is really far from easy. For his part, Julian must face the amnesia of his girlfriend and try to win her back and his patience is undermined many times! In addition to all these events, a hunter arrives in the city and attacks them except that he seems immune to their powers of compulsion. In trying to understand how it is possible, our vampires will discover a very disturbing problem.

As I said, I had a good time with the novel and I was very surprised to let myself be dragged and carried by the story. The characters are all interesting and I loved to know more about them. I suspect that my gaps will be complemented by the previous novels, but in any case it was for me a good discovery. There is an evolution of the characters from the beginning to the end of the story and I am quite curious to see what the author will propose next!

  1. That’s funny that it ended up being v. 6 and about vampires. The cover and blurb don’t really hint at that so I can see why it caught you by surprise.

Glad it was good with the two side by side stories for the siblings.

  2. I’ve seen this one around, but it doesn’t call to me, you know? Like, it might be a good book, but I want to feel like, “WANT THIS NEED THIS NOW,” Haha. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Are you going to read the others to try and fill in the gaps?
