Leashing the Tempest by Jenn Bennett

Arcadia Bell, Book 2.5

Synopsis: Dating a demon, defeating evil, running a tiki bar: Arcadia Bell is a great occult mage in many respects. But then there’s the challenge of her boyfriend’s precocious teenage son…

Arcadia “Cady” Bell may have saved the Hellfire Club’s children from a local bogeyman, but she and her Earthbound demon boyfriend, Lon Butler, now face a more disturbing problem: his teenage son’s new demonic abilities. Jupe Butler can persuade you to do anything—or so he thinks. To test the limits of his newfound power, Cady invites the co-owner of Tambuku Tiki Lounge to be the teen’s guinea pig during an afternoon boat cruise. But when an angry storm whips the Pacific into a frenzy and Jupe puts them all in serious danger, will Cady’s magick trump a teenager’s excess confidence?

Review: What a pleasure to find Caddy here! This is a heroine I love and each her new adventures is a pleasure to follow. We find inthis little novella all the characters we love from the other books. Jupe, Lon, Caddy and her friend Kar Yee. But this story also arises some new questions about our young heroine.

Our small group meets for a cruise ship whileLon wants to take some pictures for his work. But it is also an opportunity totest the powers of Jupe and who is better than hislast crush Kar Yeeto see the limits of his abilities? But of course, nothing will happen as planned, and they will quickly understand that their boat trip wasn’t a real vacacion.

This novel is a complete story, we enjoyed to discover. As alwaysI loved Jupe! I must say that we can only like him, he is lively and full of energy. He works all the timeon impulse without thinking about theconsequences, which are, it is true, always disastrous, but always so funny. I think that at the end, Lon and Caddy are getting usedto all his problems and only think of theway to fix things. Kar Yee also has a nicesense of humor when she talks with Jupe and it was very funny to follow their discussionsand see how she manages to handle him perfectly. I also enjoyed the introduction of the creature thatwe had not yet had the opportunity to see and I’m totally intrigued now! I do not know if we’ll hear about her in the next novel, but it was very interesting.

This short story is really nice and perfectly follows the second volume. I recommend it toall the fans of the series. It’s full of humor, action and problems.
