Immortality Bites, Book 4

Synopsis: Newly vamped Sarah Dearly wants her normal life back, but fate is fighting against her. She tries to get a regular job and gets staked in the interview, only to be rescued by a masked vampire who calls himself the Red Devil. Then a wallflower-turned-witch curses her, making her a bloodthirsty, sun-allergic nightwalker–the worst vampire there is. As if all that weren’t enough, she can’t get married because her 600-year-old boyfriend, Thierry, is in a centuries-long marriage of convenience he can’t escape.

As Sarah’s nightwalker tendencies make her more dangerous, even to those she loves, she’ll have to counteract that curse, unmask the increasingly intriguing Red Devil, and get a commitment from her man. But if that’s what it takes to secure her happiness, Sarah is ready…even if it means embracing her inner vamp to do it.

Review: This is another series that I started a long time ago and have not finished despite the fact that I have all the novels. I think it’s just the lack of time, because I really like Sarah Dearly and it was a pleasure to finally see her again. I also continued with the last book in the series after the end of this fourth book. But just so you know, there is also a spin-off series a little less chick-lit than this one and more like a mystery one. Two volumes are already out, and I can tell you that I really liked the first one.

Sarah is still struggling to adapt to her vampire condition and I must say that after 10 weeks, many things happened, and not just some good ones. It’s crazy enough to realize that so little time was spent in spite of all these events. Since the leader of the vampire hunters died in the previous book, we might think that Sarah and Thierry could finally have some time for them to rest, but that’s not counting the continual misfortune of the young woman. Yes, because some persons really seem interested in the fact that she possesses the blood of two different master vampires in her, and they dream of being transformed by her, whether she agrees or not. But it also seems that a person known to be dead for centuries is back, determined to interfere in the life of our heroine. Something more? Going to her high school reunion, Sarah will face an old friend who has decided to take revenge, something that will completely change her life by transforming her in a sort of cliché vampire and it will give her impulses she would have preferred to avoid. She must find a solution and soon!

It is always a pleasure to follow Sarah as she is a bouncy and dynamic character. She always makes me think of the Queen Betsy Series by MaryJanice Davidson. It must be said that the books revolve around the same universe of vampires, humor and very talented heroines for disastrous situations. Of course we also have more about the relationship between Sarah and Thierry and I must say that I loved seeing what this man could do for her, even if for others it seems so little. I was also eager to discover the identity of the vampire become an urban legend and it is true that I did not expect at all to this character and even less the reason behind this assistance. I do not know if I’m too naive, but it is true that it was a real surprise. But the problems are just beginning and the next book will bring the answers we expected, and I ‘m curious to see how our heroes will get out of this situation.

A nice read and as I say, I’m now reading the last novel to know the purpose of the story.

This one probably isn’t for me, but I might look up her less chick-lit spin off because I prefer more mystery. At least the world looks like it has a pretty interesting supernatural element.

    1. Melliane

yeah this one is really chick-lit. The world is interesting but you’re right maybe the other is more for you.

  2. Christy

I love the title! This seems like a fun series.

Loving the title but alas this is the only thing that really appeals to me about this book.

I knew that author’s name sounded familiar, I read book one forever ago then forgot to pick up the rest. Thanks for the reminder, your review made me want the others 😀

I’m seeing that now that I’m adding these to my TBR lol!!

I try and follow a few series too and my biggest obstacle as to why I’m unable to follow it religiously is I’m easily distracted by the shiny and new series LOL. It’s great that you finally found the time to revisit this and loved it. Maybe it’ll inspire you read up some more.

    1. Melliane

it’s difficult sometimes, too many series everywhere, right?

  6. kimbacaffeinate

Leave it to you to not only tempt me with this series but than talk about the spin-off with more mystery aspects and get me all excited! LOL

    1. Melliane

her other series is really good too!

  7. Jenny @ Supernatural Snark

I really enjoyed the Queen Betsy series when I read them years ago, so I think this is a series that would work well for me Melliane! I’m in the mood for a paranormal read that has a bit of humor to it and isn’t quite so dark and serious:)

    1. Melliane

ig you enjoyed Queen Betsy I think you could like this one as well.

  8. Lily

I have been wanting to start this series for so long. I love chick lit paranormal style and it just looks fun. I am not a fan of this new cover, though, I like the cartoon ones. Is the series wrapping up?

    1. Melliane

I like them from time to time too, it’s light and fun to read them. The cartoons are for the spin off series.

  11. Kim { Book Swoon }

This sounds really fun with the paranormal and humor blend (love the fun cover) and the author is one I’ve read long ago (Living in Eden series) and liked. I need to check this one out well : )

There’s never enough time to read all the books I want either. The characters in this book sound eccentric. (a little nuts) I’d rather mystery over chic light so I might have to check out the spin off. The high school reunion is so over used in media. Sarah sounds like a fun main character and humor is always a plus.

    1. Melliane

lol she is definitely nuts. The reunion isn’t really big, it’s just a little passage in the book.

  13. Brandi Breathes Books

Like the sound of a bouncy character

  14. blodeuedd

I stopped at book 2 for some reason I can’t remember

  15. Joy (Joyousreads)

Michelle Rowen is a writing machine! I’ve never heard of this one, but it’s always fun to follow a series! I hope it’ll only get better for you. 🙂

    1. Melliane

yes she has really a lot of books.

  16. Stephanie Faris

Stakes & Stilettos. I like the sound of that one! The cover is pretty compelling, too.

  17. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Oh I know this authors name. I’m trying to think if it’s this series or for another. I think another. But this sounds so good too! 😀 Thank you for sharing. 🙂

  18. Kirsty-Marie

It reminds me a little of the Chicagoland vampire series, though less chick-lit (which isn’t my favourite genre) so will have to check out her other series. 🙂
