Reaper’s Fall by Joanna Wylde

Reapers MC, Book 5

Synopsis: He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Review: It is true that I am a little dissipated with this series. I read the first volume, then the fourth, and finally the fifth. Yes, you will notice the hole between 1 and 4 … But I threw myself with pleasure in this fifth volume! Well I admit that I had another little concern … yes, yes … my goldfish memory struck again and it is true that I did not remember much of the universe. You will tell me that it is not very complicated for a bikers romance… but it is! Especially when you start having trouble locating the characters. But it is true that in either case we mainly follow the two protagonists so it is not so embarrassing.

I was quite surprised by the format of the story. The periods are a bit mixed and we start with the end and then go back in time. It was in any case interesting to see what had happened between Melanie and Painter. It must be said that we connect easily to them! Melanie is not really one of those who easily train with bikers, she has prejudices but leaves them aside as soon as she knows Painter. But the beginning of their relationship is quickly interrupted when Painter finds himself in prison for two years. When he comes out, however, things get complicated once more between them.

I confess that I wanted to shake our hero in the course of the story. He does not realize what he is doing to others! For him the club is his family and even if he risks a lot, especially because of his conditional, he does not hesitate to act against the law. I can understand that he owes a lot to the club but still he abuses! Yes, he abuses! Because he knows perfectly the consequences of his actions and especially that nobody has forced him to do anything. And then there is Melanie … Their relationship is quite complicated because he is not necessarily always correct with her and I fully understand her mistrust. It must be said that he is doing it again and again … But here they are also very touching together and I was really curious to see how their story would end.

It was a new very pleasant volume to read, thick too but we can read it quickly.

  1. This series is on my list, but I still have to put my hands on the first volume . . . *argh* Glad this instalment worked well for you, you piqued my curiosity even more 😀

  2. I agree about this pair. Painter really was tough to respect his choices though I liked him. Haha, I’ve bounced around and read books out of order and then couldn’t remember who the characters are as a result. Hope you get the chance to go back for book two and three.
