Blade Song by J.C. Daniels

Colbana Files, Book 1

Synopsis: Kit Colbana – half breed, assassin, thief, jack of all trades – has a new job: track down the missing ward of one of the local alpha shapeshifters. It should be a piece of cake.

So why is she so nervous? It probably has something to do with the insanity that happens when you deal with shifters – especially sexy ones who come bearing promises of easy jobs and easier money.

Or maybe it’s all the other missing kids that Kit discovers while working the case, or the way her gut keeps screaming she’s gotten in over her head. Or maybe it’s because if she fails – she’s dead.

If she can stay just one step ahead, she should be okay. Maybe she’ll even live long enough to collect her fee…

Review: I remember hearing a lot about the author and I had Blade Song for a while, so I was happy to get into it.

I wondered if the story was like Sierra Dean’s Secret McQueen novels, but in the end it wasn’t and I liked the author’s ideas.

Kit didn’t have an easy life, but she has finally freed herself from the shackles of her past, even if it continues to haunt her. She’s trying to live as a private investigator, but it’s not easy. However, when a were-cat shows up at her office to offer her a case from her alpha, Kit knows it’s not a good idea. Besides, it’s never a good idea to work with werewolves, especially since the alpha is a born psychopath. But Damon? Oh Damon, he’s sexy, he’s annoying, but he’s also sweet and caring, so how can we resist him? Together, they’ll have to try to find the alpha’s nephew who disappeared and this disappearance may be linked to others too!

In this story, there’s also a vampire, Jude, who’s a bit obsessive and I was a bit scared that we’d fall into a love triangle, but not at all and I thought it was really nice. And then did I tell you about Kit? She comes from a very particular lineage and I really liked to have something different for our heroine.

Yes it was a very nice first novel and I’m very curious to read more now!
