Revenants, Book 1

Synopsis: In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life–and memories–behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant–an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Review: I had this novel for a very long time and I had heard a lot about Amy Plum, so I was curious to see how this first volume was.

Kate lost her parents and was forced to leave the United States with her sister Georgia to live with her grandparents in France. It’s a new life and it’s really not easy. If Georgia spends her time going out, Kate is more introverted. When she crossed paths with the handsome Vincent, her life is completely turned upside down. She will discover that there is much more to the world than an ordinary existence. But that doesn’t mean knowing what’s hiding will help her move on.

To tell the truth, it’s a very classic YA novel that doesn’t really revolutionize the genre, but I had a good time. The relationship between Kate and Vincent is like “I love you, but I can’t be with you” and of course there’s a big villain too, but it’s quite nice to follow and I’ll be very curious to see how our two heroes do.

There’s an idea, and I liked that the story takes place in France!
