Wolfhunter River by Rachel Caine

Stillhouse Lake, Book 3

Synopsis: A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.

She can’t ignore a cry for help. But in this remote hunting town, it’s open season.

Gwen Proctor escaped her serial-killer husband and saved her family. What she can’t seem to outrun is his notoriety. Or the sick internet vigilantes still seeking to avenge his crimes. For Gwen, hiding isn’t an option. Not when her only mission is to create a normal life for her kids.

But now, a threatened woman has reached out. Marlene Crockett, from the remote town of Wolfhunter, is panicked for herself and her daughter. When Gwen arrives in the small, isolated rural community, Marlene is already dead—her own daughter blamed for the murder. Except that’s not the person Marlene feared at all. And Gwen isn’t leaving until she finds out who that was.

But it may already be too late. A trap has been set. And it’s poised to snap shut on everyone Gwen loves. Her stalkers are closing in. And in a town as dark as Wolfhunter, it’s so easy for them to hide…

Review: I really liked the first volume and if the second one concluded the main storyline, I was wondering what the author was going to offer us to relaunch the story. I was a little afraid that I wouldn’t like it, but in the end this novel was a good read.

Gwen has successfully resolved her issues with her husband. But that doesn’t mean the stalking is over, because even though she’s been cleared, some people are still convinced she was complicit in her husband’s murders. Not easy. Really not easy! So when a family of the victims decided to bring her down and make a documentary about her, Gwen decided to go to another city to help a woman who called her for help. But now, the woman has been found dead, her daughter is the perfect culprit, but Gwen senses something is wrong and is determined to find out the truth. Accompanied by Sam and her children, she will have to face many dangers!

This was a good third volume, although I think the author tried to do a little too much. Anyway, I had a good time and I must admit that I wonder what she has in store for us in the last volume.
